I realise it's a bit hard to do right now because of our losing streak ... but if I was the club, I'd make a statement in a bid to put all speculation to bed. I'm not talking about a statement to the press or anything like that ... I'm talking about getting Madge's signature on a long term deal.

It will give the club a bit of stability in the coaching ranks. any player that doesn't get on board can **** off.

This stability would also filter into our recruitment and pathways programs. every time you change coaches, your recruitment needs to change. because players that work well under Madge are different to those that worked under Kevvie, etc.

That’s fine in principle, but you have to be absolutely certain that the coach you’re backing long term is suitable for a long term tenure..

you need a club to back him then be prepared to set up the systems around him.

similar to what the Storm did for Bellamy ... does anyone really think Madge is so much more intense than Bellamy. so much more intense that he can only last at a club for 3 years before burning them out while Bellamy can last at the same club for 25 years.

Madge is a proven winner. he has 2 NRL premierships; 1 Super League premiership; 1 State of Origin series and 1 Four Nations trophy (with NZ).

I was impressed with his approach to team selection in 2025. I was impressed by the fitness and the scramble defence.

I haven’t really seen much in the way of strategy. Which is something that no one in the game who isn’t named ‘Cleary’ can hold a candle to Craig.

Craig might be intense but his footy IQ means you can’t question him. Madge might be equally or more intense than Craig but being flogged only gets you so far without tactics

We can't be re-signing a coach on the back of this season. Almost every player has regressed.

Our recruitment is diabolical right now. Lots of factors to that but nobody is jumping at the opportunity to come here.

We've gotta hold our horses and see how we go with re-signing and signing players for 2028 before there's a contract extension for Madge.

The club needs to either shit or get off the dunny. Sign him long term, or move him on and sign whoever they think they do want long term. Make a ****ing decision, we're the biggest club in the league let's ****ing act like it.

I'm backing him personally. Good assistants around him will help with whatever his shortcomings are.

The new clubs coming in are also going to hurt WRT coaching and support staff, not just players. Maybe this is part of why we still don't have a Teo replacement. Either way, the club needs to make it happen.
