THE BOSS Maguire Stomped The Naysayers! But...8 Months Later, Here We Are.

Not trying to sound controversial but it’s not just players. Not to offend younger people but by and largely it’s younger people these days.
Feeling my age but I totally get what gramps was talking about when he went on with the “in my day spiel” of having to walk barefoot 50km to school and back uphill both ways while it was both snowing and 50 degrees Celsius.

I’m more than willing to give Maguire a mulligan for this season but what does concern me is that seems unwilling to drop dudes that need dropping.

Now I’m aware of the injuries obviously and so I’m willing to give him a mulligan on guys like Gosiewski because forward depth has scraped the bottom of the barrel.

But what I’m not ok with is Paix, Bunt and Reynolds getting picked again and again despite having replacements available.

Reynolds still has skill but his legs are unreliable, you cannot pick a guy who will break by stepping slightly out of a straight run.

You could easily say you are managing Bunt too if you don’t want to drop him outright.

You can’t carry three busted blokes in your spine. Hopefully Mozer keeps getting time when Reynolds and Mam return but I doubt it.

Now you sound like madge!!! Lol all good points

Good point! Boy am I glad we have mitch Barnett coming next year for payne haas..

I mean we easily average 25m per set without haas, Barnett should realistically bring that up to a breathtaking 30m per set next year!

Making meters doesnt automatically mean you are the best forward. Its an easy stat to pad out.

if you're going to play that game ... take a guess which coach recruited Gosiewski in the first place.

I'll give you a hint ... it wasn't Madge.

I'm also willing to bet that the coach that happened to recruit Gosiewski, played him a shit load more than Madge (who can blame an extensive injury toll for having to play him)

It's not a Madge Vs Kevie thing. It's more of a mistakes I think Madge has made, or failed to correct.

We have the worst forward pack depth at the minute. We get monstered in the middle, which means our backs make more mistakes. It means we're less likely to run support plays, because playing with any momentumn is rare.

He was extended in October last year.

24- played 6 games
25-26 played 24 games.

Lol... this is 5 year old stuff!

Just because you said i cant use it as an example, doesn't mean i cant use it as an example.

The comment was made that nobody was hating on Kev, I pointed out you called him a scumbag. It doesnt change the fact you actually did call him a scumbag.

But yes record your voice so I can hear how stupid you are in person.
I would like it as well tbh. We could make a song using autotune.

I’m personally very sick of haas trying to milk every meter for his stats instead of going down for a quick play the ball.
I’m kinda upset he’s leaving, but if he doesn’t wanna be here then sure, just go. The guy makes breaks too, has a wicked sidestep when he chooses to use it. That bumps his metres up a bit. I don’t think he’s worth the 1.3 souths are reportedly gonna pay but good luck. Ol Wayno is trying to buy a premiership in his twilight years.

Momentum, momentum, momentum.......................... something this team is totally incapable of creating and yet is so very important to be successful in the current game.

One out hitups for 4/6 tackles don’t help. At least try and create some confusion in the defensive line. Madge probably playing it safe given our cattle that are out.

I personally think he’s playing 20 years to late, if he was playing mid 90,s early 2000 you could give him half the teams salary and still win. I just think with how the coaching teams/systems are now the engine room is speed of play the ball and momentum.

He’s the best individually skilled prop I’ve ever seen I “need” to make that clear. However He is pretty soft in defence.

In an era you get penalised for tackling too hard, he’s probably under instruction to not break other player’s backbones in legitimate tackles. He is the greatest for me as well, but at 1.3 mil it’s a thanks but no thanks from me.

David Fifita the same. He was brilliant for us but I’ll be ****ed if he was worth the 1.2 titans poached him from us for.

Injuries were bad in 2024, but they look to be mostly revolving around Payne, Reece and Reynolds.

- Reynolds missed 11 games in 2024 and is at 5 missed this year... although he has failed to finish the game 4 times already this year, so 9 games he's either missed or failed to play the full 80 due to injury in the game
- Payne missed 10 games in 2024 and is at 7 missed this year... he'll need to play 5 of the last 8 to equal 2024
- Reece missed 10 games in 2024 and is at 5 missed this year... he'll only need to play 3 of the last 8 to equal 2024

We've actually used 5 more players already compared to the total number of players used in 2024 (27).
- Carrigan has already missed 4 more games than 2024
- Mariner has already missed 3 more games
- Anderson has already missed 5 more games than the equivalent in Cobbo
- Jensen obviously having a season ending injury compared to playing every game in 2024
- Riki and Staggs are already equal with their games missed in 2024
- Piaks is 1 game away from equalling 2024, which would've happened if we played this week due to the HIA

So at the moment it's basically Reece has been healthier than in 2024, but across the board the starting 13 have been less available than they were in 2024.
