OFFICIAL Michael Maguire Appointed Head Coach

With all due respect, the old boys need to look themselves in the fucking mirror as they are half the reason we're in this entire shit show.

I have loved this club since inception. I love the good men who have played for our enjoyment on our behalf. But these blokes white anted the **** out of Siebs and were always going to have a massive tanty until Kev got a crack.

Well, he did, and the results were underwhelming. By his own admission he missed a "pass mark" of finals footy in 3/4 seasons at the helm. That's 3 out of 4 fails. And not just that, but the manner in which he failed...with multiple players coming out in the media with "he's a good bloke but can't coach"...and the players seemingly not putting in for him towards the back end of this year...he simply had to go. If it wasn't now it would have been midway through next year and that ***** 2026 as well. The club has made the right call IMO.

Now they want to bitch and whinge again? Well get fucked. This club should not be a fucking charity. I appreciate Kev is a club legend, I loved watching the bloke play and I love him as a club hero. He will always be that, no-one can take that away from him. But we don't need to sit him in the coach's job because it's his dream, if he's not getting the results. And he wasn't. So he's gone.

How about the old boys shut the **** up and get behind the club and the new regime, which - from words which have been said, at least, though talk is cheap - seems poised to drag us into a higher standard of professionalism, which should only translate to better on-field results.

If the old boys would prefer us to cater to their whim rather than do what it takes to be successful again - nearly 20 years after our last success, mind you - then, again, with all due respect, they can go **** themselves.

As a club we need to aim so much fucking higher.

It is funny because there is all the talk about the current squad's sense of entitlement and attitude, but it is no different from the "old boys".

The level of entitlement to believe that your opinion on the coach (a mate of yours, so a heavily biased opinion) should be taken into consideration as part of the decision making process is just beyond me.

Many of the old boys actually won the comp, so there's that of course. They also of course have the right to their opinion, but whether that holds any weight is something totally different.

The current squad haven't won shit, and shouldn't act like they have.

Not if they're just going to bitch and whinge about club decisions and not support the club - no. If they have ideas on how to do better, let's hear it.

Did they submit any correspondence while Kev was coach? Did any offer their time, knowledge, or resources to help out? Was there ANY discussion that hey, things don't seem to be going well, can we help?
 
The old boys must have also hated playing with the likes of Chris Johns, Terry Matterson, Glenn Lazarus, Michael De Vere, Luke Priddis, Michael De Vere, Peter Wallace etc

I really should re watch tiger town again, it gives a new perspective on how Madge coaches, it's not all hard nosed tough love from what I remember.

is it even possible to watch anymore? It's been removed on fox/kayo.
 
What I want to see from Madge is a guy who makes sure his players try to put the ball down at close to the goalposts as possible when scoring a try. Four fucking years of watching our idiots diving to put the ball down without even a thought for bettering the scoring position. Sometimes they even ran the ball further away from the goalposts so they could do a celebration for the camera (watch our game against Cowboys in 2023 in Townsville for a good example - Walsh runs about 15m away from the goalposts despite nobody around).

How Kevvie could watch this in reviews (did he even do reviews?) and not flog them at training for being self-centered dickheads baffled me but nothing improved in any year.

Bonus points for Madge if he can make sure the opposition, who have been coached to better the scoring position, aren't allowed to freely run around to the goalposts after we let them cross the line.

I just want to see a coach who looks like he's noticing the little things, because as we found out last year things can unravel very quickly when you aren't.

- Madge is trying to ensure accountability
- Enjoyed break too much, needed to push himself
- Open to wherever the coach wants him to play
- Selwyn is a phenomenal talent, wherever he plays he will play a huge role even if on the wing
- Ben will be a massive boost, he is a leader and will be a big boost for the team
- I don't want to lose Toes (sic) and Cobbs
- Toes (sic) is a leader at the club, part of the leadership group
- I don't feel as fit as I want to be, it will take a couple of weeks, I enjoy getting in early to preseason
- Something about Burleigh Backpackers, something about Patty moving out - sorry didn't really understand the references here
- Some of the youngsters are leading in the fitness, some are leading in the gym
- The biggest leader in the fitness is Payne, definitely not Deine
- Reece also doing pretty well in the fitness stakes
- Does not know if fitter compared to last year
- Everyone is hurting at the moment in training
- The biggest thing Madge is bring is...ummm...I don't know
- Everyone is on edge, they don't want to make an error
