To be fair to the reporters I havent seen anywhere any of them have said it will be this year at all. Only seen 2027 onwards. Who ****ing knows though because I aint paying for a subscription to them ****ers to read the whole thing.

Then I wouldnt understand why the Warriors can get compensation unless he had a contract through next year. I gather that is what it is?

This contract shit needs to be fixed. I don't understand why they can't just have a free agency period like every other damn sport. Would fix alot of this.

As you mentioned Barnett was contracted through until the end of next season hence why they have stipulated that the release will only go ahead if compensation is received.

Because he did have a contract through 2027 with the Warriors and they are allowing him to get out of it to return home instead of waiting to go in 2028. It wont be much considering the circumstances I would imagine.

around 475k if it happened today he would be owed not unreasonable to assume we have that sitting around only gets less as the weeks go on

The guy played for Aus and NSW pre-injury and was one of the best forwards in the comp. Just look at some of the other starting middles for other teams and you'll quickly realise why he's worth what he is

Yeah I suppose. Throw in another player you could drop that down a bit even more.

One day the players and the players association will work out that it is actually beneficial for a large chunk of their players to have their salaries publicly known. Not only fixes speculation about circumvention but puts the spotlight on terribly run clubs and well run clubs.

What BS!!! This can't be reality! What NRL club would let a talent like Antonio Verhoeven go? I know he is a kiwi and all but the kid is a young Greg Inglis 2.0. Probably the best junior i have seen in 20 years. Id rather let Walsh go back to the Warriors than lose Antonio... He is going to be the better player... just watch!! BIG MISTAKE!!!

Yet, we do get a State of Origin and Kangaroo forward... of course the Warriors will expect a great player in return.
