Coming close to the business end now, and there's a reaaaaaaal fight developing between the Yankees and the Red Sox (who else?) for the AL East division.
The BoSox have been the form team before the All-Star break, and since returning have won 5 from their last 17. The Yankees, however, can't be beaten it seems and are running hot with 8 or 9 out of their last 10.
The Sox are 2.5 back and going into a 3 game series with the Yankees at Yankee Stadium. The Red Sox have won all 8 encounters with the Yanks so far this year, so good luck!
Detroit are surprisingly holding a very slender lead on the AL Central division with the White Sox one game behind. Both teams are forming streaks heading into the stretch.
The Angels are holding a nice lead over Texas in the AL West division.. which IMHO is the weakest division in Baseball.. don't be surprised to see none of these teams progress much further.
The Phillies are holding a 6 game lead over Florida with 60 wins and rehabilitated Pedro Martinez in the Double-A league. These guys might go all the way again in the NL East
The Cubs are leading NL Central.. but hardly convincingley and St Louis are having a bumper second half and on par to over take them within the next few games.
The Dodgers are just pwning the MLB at the moment, best record in baseball.. on track for a hundred win season. They can't lose this division in the NL West. 66 wins and counting, holding a 6 and half game lead over SF with a respectable 60 win season so far.
Make up your own mind kiddies, this could be a big postseason. My guess is the Dodgers to make the World Series, with the Yankees to make an apperance for the first time in a long time.
