PARRAMATTA cult figure Fui Fui Moi Moi is facing the sack after returning to Sydney 10 days late from a holiday in Tonga.
The Eels have launched an investigation into why the front-rower - a hero to the club's blue and gold army of supporters - has been stuck in the South Pacific while his teammates are busy with pre-season training.

It is believed Moi Moi has told club officials that storms and floods in the island nation prevented him from catching a flight home for days on end.

But he faces drastic punishment if it is revealed he could have made his way home sooner.

Former Australia lock and newly installed football club board member Ray Price told The Daily Telegraph the situation was being viewed extremely seriously.

"We'll look at what Fui Fui and his management say caused the delay," Price said on Monday.

"There will be harsh punishment if there has been any misleading of the football club.

i reckon IF he gets sacked we should make a play for him, use stacks money. he would add a bit of depth to our prop stocks.

however i don't think they will sack him, since i believe there is a strong chance he was telling the truth. my brother just got back from PNG and his flight was cancelled as well, he had to come back the following day. from what i understand flights from some of those island nations get delayed or cancelled quite a bit. eusa_think

They won't sack him. They are still useless Parramatta afterall.

I am pretty sure that parra want to "clean out the ranks" a bit this year after how they nosedived last year. Still a possibility they may move him on (admitedly only small chance I'd say)

We did offload stagg recently so we should have some cap room you'd think.... probebly not enough unless we heavilly back end his deal and forget about resigning locky and hunt???

Was there massive storms and stuff happening over there keeping people from coming and going....

Fiji was affected by storms etc, so I would say Tonga copped it as well.

People couldn't get out of Fiji for a few days.

They wont sack him, they are struggling for forward depth like us. They cant afford to...and who's to say he isnt telling the truth. I guess thats why they are looking into it

You'd think if you were an NRL club, with a fair bit of resources at your disposal (like say, the internet or a telephone), it would be rather easy to investigate the matter further to see if in fact he is telling the truth.

"Hi, it's Mr X calling from Australia, we are just chasing up some information regarding flight XXX on <insert date>. I am unsure whether this flight was delayed or cancelled, I haven't heard from my friend who was meant to be on that flight."
"Um yes Sir, hold 1 minute please. Are you there? Yes our information shows that that flight was indeed cancelled."
"Thank you"
"Thank you"

Wow...I should be a detective. No wonder they work for Parramatta...

They won't sack him even if he isn't telling the truth. They can't afford to lose him.

Although I wouldn't mind him back at Souths.

But I think the actual problem was GETTING to the airport, not the cancellation of flights.

My point is, with all the tools at their disposal, it wouldn't be hard. it's a nothing article.

they have a lot of "tools" at their disposal, thats for sure

Hmmm, hope he recovers from his rapt knuckles by round 1.

Well no surprises there in he didnt get sacked.

The Fui Fui song is decent, the Manu Vatuvei one is better though!
