What is going on this season for the Cowboys?? There squad is not that bad yet they seem to get flogged an awful lot. Is Neil Henry a myth???? Will Neil Henry see out his contract.? [icon_shru

I thought Henry was a decent coach with his no-names at the Raiders. Now he has a team full of good players and he can't get them winning.

The cows need a big cleanout of non performing players. Henry will start that this year when they officially can't make the 8.
You would have to think Thurston would have been given some assurances before he signed on for 4 more years of that.

They do have a few under performing stars but they have Thurston, Bowen , Payne, Tonga, O'Donnel, Scott and Mason this season who are all good.. They have a bloody good spine even with a nuffie halfback. Blows me away that they play so shit.

The management is our problem IMO.

It won't turn around on the field until there is a change behind the scenes.

You just have to look at the way that Henry became our coach to see that the management isn't up to it. They sacked Murray before the season began which effectively killed that season before the players took the field. Then there was the whole Bennet saga and the underhanded way that we poached Henry from the Raiders.

I think sacking Henry will be like putting a bandaid on an amputation.

It isn't fun being a Cowboys fan at the moment.

Cowboys seem to be afraid to get rid of players who obviously aren't anywhere near good enough. Graham, Williams (x2), Bani, Rovelli etc. are all joke players.

The fans are the victims, for sure.

But I question the Cowboys players and their commitment to eachother as a team. You would think when you're under siege you'd bind together and dig deep for eachother. But they all seem to play as a bunch of individuals on the same field together. There's far too many quality players to be playing the way they are.

Whatever the problems with management, the onus is on the senior players - particularly Thurston, Bowen, O'Donnell, Payne and Tonga - to get the players together and say "enough's enough, we can't keep delivering this shit, we have to do something about this". It's entirely an attitude thing.

Indeed - the WB scenario ... I believe WB wanted to go there but they said no way... they wanted someone younger or something along those lines... I remember WB saying he walked out of the meeting thinking "Hey this CEO can't run his football club he has to go back and ask higher people about decisions" ... regardless to turn down WB from the cow's perspective is flabbergasting. I reckon WB would have done wonders for the club - I'll downright say he could have won a title with JT... WB kills it with gun players and history shows that. He takes their game to a level that cannot be described.

WB didn't get the nod at the Cows because of Tallis who isn't a fan.

WB tells it differently in his book 'The Man in the Mirror'.

Also the cows never seen to bring through quality juniors, how many do you think they have brought through over the last 2 years compared to say the Broncos

Must be true then

I thought that's how Bennett told it in his book?

He had a meeting with the CEO, got on like wild fire, CEO went to the board and was turned away like a leper. Bennett noted that Tallis was on the board...but didn't go as far as making any serious allegations but you could see what he was trying to say.

As for the Cowboys well it's attitude and injuries really.

They've got a bunch of money sown up into an injury riddled fullback who's seen better days.

Their hooker is playing with a bad injury that's hampered him so far this season.

And Thurston is a bit like Hodges.

Combine that with one of the worst backlines in League and a mixed forward pack and there's your answer.

They need a cleanout of some of their ordinary players.

I don't think it's the coach, because he isn't going out there delivering crap performances. too many players not having a dig is the problem I reckon. They have the talent their to be a top 4 side.

fair call although it looks like the players don't want to play for Neil Henry.

Cowboys are rumoured to be signing Dallas Johnson for next season. There squad is starting to take shape. Bigger things will be expected of them in 2011...

Also chasing Jeremy Smith. If they keep Mason they have the makings of a good team.
