New Broncos Performance Head Takes Up Post - Brisbane Broncos

Corvo has officially joined the Broncos this week after completing his duties with the Kangaroos in England.

It follows 11 successful years with the Melbourne Storm, where Corvo has been central to their grand final success.
But after only being back in the country a couple of days, Corvo was taking the lead in his new post.
"I am very excited to be here and it is a huge challenge," said Corvo.
"There has been a bit happening in recent months. To be able to come back with a World Cup was a marvellous experience.
"If we hadn't have won it would have been a disappointing trip, so it is something I will always remember."
Corvo admits changing clubs in the middle of an overseas tour was a unique experience.
With yearly NRL contracts expiring on October 31, it meant the transition took place overseas.
And his former Storm charges were not afraid to remind him of it.
"There was some friendly banter," he admitted.
"It was a bit emotional, having worked with the 'Big Three' of Cameron Smith, Billy Slater and Cooper Cronk for all my 11 years there, and knowing the World Cup would be the last time.
"The banter was that on November 1 I was a Bronco (when the new contract started), but up until October 31 I was a Storm player.
"That transition occurred at midnight and they certainly reminded me about it."
Meanwhile in Australia the Broncos' players were noticing a difference at pre-season training.
Corvo was pulling the strings from England and his staff was putting the players through a lot of middle to long distance running.
"My two assistants Steve Hooper and Adam Paulo have done a wonderful job in my absence and that was certainly what I wanted them to do," said Corvo.
"The plan was some longer stuff and after Christmas we will do some shorter stuff that is more game specific.
"But that longer stuff was there for a reason, to build a base, a strong aerobic base."

He's won me over with that article alone.

He's not kidding when he says it will be a huge challenge

We need to work hard on our fitness and it's good to get someone highly qualified on board. Good to hear the guys are noticing a difference at training.

Very glad to have you Corvo, now stick your foot up all their arses and if they refuse to put in, tell the board (not the coach because he's a member of the boys club) and have them throw them out. No more bullshit.

Passive Aggressive HQ.

Alongside Barba, Corvo's signing is the most important pick-up of the off-season.

Very happy to have him on board. Some players dishonored the jersey last season. (Terrible gaming reference)

Proof will be in the pudding, or the lack of it, come Round 1.

I thought we had a good preparation and were strong in the first half of 2011 - Yow Yeh, Hoffman and Beale were beasts at the back.

Thaiday, Hala and Hannant need to get leaner and fitter.

I think I'd also like to see Reed and Glenn drop a few KG's as well.

Yeah, Reed, Thaiday and Glenn are the one who need to shed a few Ks to get some footwork and speed back.
Hala just needs to get fitter.

Hannant is fine IMO, he's the guy chasing players all the way from one end of the field to another. Plus didn't he come second in the beep test or whatever it was?

His running style just looks unco - maybe that is deceptive.
