No one taking Broncos seriously

I think ppl have misinterpreted my post slightly. I am not saying we should be taken seriously as premiership winners yet, it's only round 10! What I was saying is that I feel we should be getting more credit for how we're playing, even by our own fans. I actually am not confident about tonight at all, I think we might lose

I actually am not confident about tonight at all, I think we might lose but I don't believe in this "we haven't won convincingly yet".. You can only beat what is in front of you and a win is a win.. Winning is a habit, only have to look at the hook era too realise this. We played well under him but didn't win many of those close games

That's the case with every team tbh.

As for the intention of your original post then, I think we're on everyones radar as a team to be wary of but given the recent years of "mediocrity" we aren't going to get back that aura that teams like the Bunnies, Roosters and Melbourne have. Can't expect much more at this time of year I think.

I'm ok with people writing us off, tbh. Keep in mind we were thumped by the defending premiers, outclassed by the Dragons and just a few bits of individual brilliance from Ben Hunt has snatched a few wins we probably should have lost.

Our forwards have been the form pack of the comp in my opinion. I wish they would get more credit. Our halves and back line haven't clicked yet but hey it's only round 10.

We also have yet to encounter the Storm - regardless of their form they are a good test to how a team is traveling, imo.

**** everybody else...

people always write us off ... I love it. they wrote us off in 2006, even after we made the GF, people didn't think we could beat those cheating pricks and look what happened...

I love the underdog tag.

Well, I'm taking the Broncos very seriously

Nothing has felt convincing yet.

We got flogged by the premiers and have gotten away with "all on black" Ben Hunt decisions against the Panthers and Roosters.

Otherwise we've so far beaten mediocre oppostion.

So far the predicted high flyers (Souths, Penrith) have had a run of horrific injuries. The Cowboys had a slow start but are now firing. The Storm, Bulldogs, Souths and St George quietly going about their business.

Manly will be spoilers come post Origin.

Bennett will earn his keep in how well the players are conditioned and preserved over the next 3 months.

I agree with the tone of your post though. I feel in Hunt we have a match winner, and whilst he hasn't really shown it yet, Milford is too. What we will need come finals though is a match killer. Storm have an amazing record when leading at HT because guys like Cronk and Smith just control the game like metronomes. They kick smartly, organise the troops and control the game to the point of choking the life out of an opposition comeback.

We can't do that, or anything close to. And we'll need to if we are to win finals. Given our great goal line defence, I dare say it's the one area that's going to majorly hurt us. Not convinced Hunt can become that person by season's end, but hoping he can.

I think we have match winners in quite a few places - we just haven't learned to use them effectively and consistently yet.

Wasn't what you say the reason we sacked Hook and hired Bennett - to "control the game like a metronome"?

Looks to me like we are making progress after some years of neglect.

The other thing is we have 3 players capable of a good kicking game: Hunt, Milf and Macca who need to get it together ASAP in that department, as well as a number of genuine game breakers as well. We just have to use them consistently.

I can see it happening if every player puts in 110% and the above starts to happen consistently, for 80 minutes.
