No regrets for former Wests Tigers forward Adam Blair

Everyone seems to be eating some humble pie in here.. so I thought I'd chime in..

HA! Suck it! I was happy with the Blair & Boyd signings, I knew they'd give us some much needed experience and level-headedness. My hope for Blair coming into the season was to compliment McGuire in the front row, because Josh is a very one dimensional player, run hard and tackle a lot. I knew Blair could offer something else, some ball playing and finesse at the line, which is precisely what he's done, I'm not sure how many tries and line-breaks have come from his sneaky off-loads and passes at the line, but it'd be a lot, not even mentioning his kick pressure and defensive efforts.

Well, I was one of those firmly rooted in the WB wagon and really, anyone was an improvement on Griffin who I would've been happy to see gone back in 2012, and I was more than happy to get Blair and especially Boyd on board. I'm just happy we're doing well. Makes this place so much easier to handle.

I've always rated WB as one of the best coaches in the game, along with Hasler so I couldn't be happier to get him back, and for the most part, I actually think WB has improved since he left, I think he's learnt a lot from being at 3 clubs and the hardship of Newcastle and success of St Merge and come back better for the entire experience.

All in all, we're in good hands again, and it's no longer depressing watching Griffin give bench players 5-15 minutes and having no real balls to bring new players through, drop under performing players and even more importantly, playing players in a positions they obviously should be playing. Honestly, I have no doubt if WB were here last year, Hoffman would be told to STFU and play wing or leave. That's what I like about him, he's not always right, and he's certainly made some bad choices, but he does what he does with absolute confidence and conviction that everyone around the club from coaching staff to the playing squad both admire him, but also respect him. You can just tell how much players love and respect him, and he doesn't need to do a Bellamy and scream his lungs out to achieve that.

Eggactly Unbreakable, couldnt agree more. The way some supposed 'supporters' here on BHQ behaved when Teddy's signing was announced was disgraceful an i was extremely close to cancelling my subscription here because of it!

There is certainly a lot of egg all over the scraggly beards of the wannabe hipsters who crtiticize WB an Teddy here that's for sure!

Well I have always been a huge fan of the WB return and I think he is the best coach in the game, but that does not mean he is perfect

Like the rest of us, he is capable of making a mistake, and in signing Blair I thought he had made one

Happy that I was wrong :)

I was pretty happy with the get go from the Blair signing especially after seeing his 4 nations football that he was playing. When the Tigers bought him, they were expecting him to do everything and be a star player like Glenn Stewart or Sam Burgess who could win you game off their own bat. When we bought him, I knew Bennett was going to play him at prop and keep his game plan simple. Go out there, ruffle a few feathers in defence and hit the ball up. I expected no more than that from him. Bennett wasn't expecting him to break games open with moments of brilliance or anything like that. Blair always thrived under a simple game plan. He had that at Melbourne and now has it at the Broncos. Some players thrive just doing the basic things and Blair is one of them.
