CROSS FORUM NRL 2022 Round 19 Discussion

Send Ponga to Pro Wrestling school so he can learn how to fall onto the ground without hurting himself. That's at least twice now he's concussed himself from hitting the ground.

That was a frustrating performance from the Knights. The scoreline won't indicate it but they had some opportunities early in the game to make life difficult for the Roosters. They failed to take them and just allowed the Roosters to hit back far too easily.

The issue I have with the Newcastle is their inability to play to their strengths. On paper they have a wonderful pack but they just have them go through the motions. Their entire game plan should revolve around their pack, gaining that ascendency in the middle, making teams work it out from corners and then testing teams out down short sides when the opportunities arise.

Too often I just saw forwards lumbering it up or playing out the back to the halves without any momentum. The passing was poor and their formations failed to ask any serious questions of the Roosters.

If it was me, I'd have Saifiti and Klemmer playing flatter, big runs off the back fence, Frizell coming back on the inside looking to attack behind the ruck and then double up by having Ponga take on that right hand edge or go with Saifiti. On the last have Clune kick for a corner, have Edrick chase and just look to smash the recipient and take it from there.

When people think Newcastle they tend to think banana kicks and Gidley flick passes and they forget how rugged their forwards were, how tenacious Buderus was around the ruck and how much Joey would like to step and take the line on. When they got on top the party tricks would come out, but it was all built off the hard work of guys like Simpson, Peden, Kennedy, Parsons, Harragon etc.

Nice summary as always. I have a soft spot for the Knights, they are my second team, so to see them struggle like this sucks. When I think Newcastle, I just think any other coach surely would be doing better than O'Brien.

Not judging you but I just don't understand having 2nd teams when their fans all despise us. I don't want to see a single other team succeed on the field because they all hate us and revel in the Broncos failing. Plus Knights fans are dicks.

I was born there, hence the connection.

Raiders look like they're still in celebration mode in Melbourne.

I don't think they realize they are playing a game to keep their finals hopes alive.

Where has this defence been from the Warriors?

Raiders didn't throw a great deal at them, but they still defended strong there.

Not sure if Warriors lost their challenge, but they should have challenged that.

First off, Sutton dives on the ball from marker which is illegal and he's the one that touches it first and loses it.
