Very sideways from cows all game... the thinner field probably isn't helping them, because Drinkwater is a very sideways player and likes the cutout ball... there's been zero opportunity for that this game.

Dearden's show and go is when he's a bit wider and gets the backrower isolated... but they haven't been able to create those situations tonight.

Haven't been all that impressed with Mahoney's passing either... it looked way better at the dogs, so he might just be having an off night

What an amazing win by Newcastle and they completely deserve that win. Ponga and Brown really did make a huge difference.

Good quality for a round 1 game. Ponga stays healthy Knights will be fighting for the bottom of the 8 as usual. Hopefully sharpes is only a short term injury. Got some nice strike across the field.

Cows dominated inside 20 tackles but just never straightened.

Wonder if they'll be chopping and changing halves to start the season again.

Pretty entertaining game for first up for the year.

Your forwards were really good, steamrolled the Knights but your spine was absolutely awful. Backs very hot and cold too.
