NRL 2026 Round 10 Discussion

Record ratings are manufactured bullshit Pete. That’s why the gf is held on a Sunday night. Because everybody has work the next day. Back in time it was a Sunday afternoon so you could get all your mates together and have a barbie and watch it at the one place with 30 or so ppl on the one box. Thursday night games……who throws a party on a Thursday? They even had Monday night games for a while….everybody parties hard Monday nights right?

Record crowds? Is that true?

Record business….no comment.
It's been over 25 years since the day-time grand final and the AFL are coming around to the idea. It's not just the GF either, it's the games in general. They could be manufactured, but if the networks are going to fork out $$$ for the rights, the proof is in the pudding.

Also it's a public holiday on Monday.

The game is in good shape. Us rusted ons are the minority.

Not everywhere, and not in Victoria. How many gfs have they competed in since then?

Sydney be cooking!!

NRL has done well to get those teams hyped

And anyway, heaps of places are still open and people need to turn up to work on Labour Day anyway, they just get a higher pay, the principle of it being held on a Sunday night remains the same. Lots of people still have to go to work the next day. It’s not like Christmas Day or Easter Sunday.

Well in the Rugby League capitals.

Doesn't stop Victoria from drawing a healthy rating either. It's been a good boon for the NRL.

What does this have to do with anything?

Tv ratings. Everyone used to get together and have a big party on gf day. 40 ppl would equal 1 tv rating. Now everybody stays home to watch it. 40ppl equals 40 tv ratings. Sunday night grand finals are shit. The time slot was changed to improve tv ratings.

Yes and it's been that way for 25 years now and they're still growing. It wasn't like they just introduced it and happened to draw the highest rating in Australian broadcast history over night.

Point being the game is more valuable than ever so your belly aching doesn't reflect reality.

Just saw the Ciraldo presser ... whinging pretty hard about a 40 minute period where they are hammer by a high infringement count.

He conveniently forgets to mention the start of the game when the Phins were on the wrong side of a similar infringement count

Another game with 28 infringements called. You can't tell me before this 6 again bullshit that refs would call 28 penalties in a game? There would have been an uproar.

Does anybody know the attendance? It isn't being shown on NRL.com, but apparently they were giving away extra free tickets to members yesterday.

He’s under pressure and has been attacking the refs a lot lately. Starting to get Siebold vibes from him. What moron hires O’Brien to be attack coach? This might be the decision that sinks him if the bottom falls out and it looks like it might. That squad is awful and he only has himself to blame.

Bulldogs forum is off him .
They call him "the assistant coach"

Will be interesting to see what Gould does now. He's not the sort to give it a lot of time as his rep is on the line too. The fact is, the squad is weak and almost all key player signings / removals have been wrong. The exceptions are Crichton and Kikau but both are very injured / not playing which doesn't help. And given that, teams know that if you shut down Kikau, Crichton and Preston in fairness, the Dogs don't have much else.

I mean look at this:
Thompson - looking at stats, he can't hold the ball
Tupuinoa - massive discipline issues
Galvin - not a halfback, at least not yet
Burton - not a five-eighth but Ciraldo will not pull the trigger
Mahoney - I'm not a fan but there is no doubt he is better than whatever the heck they have at 9 now
Sexton - he has been terrible at Catalans but under him, they looked like they were heading toward contending and probably would be with Sexton at 6
Xerri - always a risk but trying to push him out then not but then doing it but then not is poor management
O'Brien - who signs the coach with the worst attack who is sacked by his former team to be attack coach?
