NRL 2026 Round 12 Discussion

That's Canberra's year, yeah?
This could be Rick's second team to win a Minor premiership and miss finals the next year. It's a rare feat

I didn't watch, and won't watch anything this round because no Broncos and the game is shit.

Tin foil hat time - wouldn't it BE JUST LIKE THE NRL to crack down on 6 agains and reduce them heavily in THE ONE WEEK we're not playing... 🧐😂 That would be ****ing hilarious if true, counting on you guys and girls to let the rest of us jaded pricks know if it happens lol

Finally there's Ipswich product Peckham-Harris for the Dragons. I'd put him in the same category as a Tuaupiki who plays above his weight, loves being around the footy and is really effective in broken play. I think he can be a shining light for the Dragons if he gets an opportunity.

Gabe too from the ISHS team in 22. Peckham-Harris is versatile with his little fast-moving legs; he played hooker in Meninga. Gabe after three years of Flegg and 18 Cup games gets his chance. Hope he runs and runs lots.

I know that... but it didnt stop them from pulling the 18th man out of club games over the last few years since HIA's came in

What happens if Kuli plays this week... lines up at 20th man next Wednesday... and then someone immitates Suaalii and torpedos Cotter in the face and gets sent / binned in the first 5mins

Kuli is then activated... Billy could chuck him straight into right second row and he's playing 75mins of origin after playing the weekend prior.

The can of worms would be open because there would be 2 guys sitting on the bench for 80 that weren't able to play for the club side, but here's Kuli playing for club, playing origin and then backing up and playing for club post origin.

Teams would be blowing up... dogs would be fuming given how many games Burton has missed over the last few years just to sit with his 18 jersey on
Yeah, but there is a lot more lee-way now when you are holding 18th + 19th man on bench in the foul play situation.

It is a sucky situation, but the previous years of holding the 18th man out has more merit than holding out the 20th man from playing for club.

It is one of those "flaw in the system".

Plus, we have to take into account how far away SOO Game 1 is too. Still 5+ days away and Kuli will still be able to be 20th man, with enough rest.

You can mute, cover your eyes, go into the live game and rewind all the way back to watch from the start. Pretty standard to need to do this for $47.99 a mth? lol

As much as ricky is a sook. Hes got a point. This last game was reffed completely different to any game last week. I only saw the second half but i saw so many tackles that I though "this will be 6 again" and nothing happened. Its amateur hour at the nrl.

Week to week, game to game. Its a total lottery. 6 agains are cancer. If it warrants a penalty blow a penalty. If its not, keep the whistle out of your mouth.

If teams start wrestling again ... penalty, doing it repeatedly send them to the bin.

Simple

I just want the NRL to actually have some foresight and tell the public the rules at the start of the year, instead of just making it up as they go.

Will the RLPA be happy if Kuli plays 3 games in 7 days?

Would Billy have been happy if Kuli got concussed last night and cant be in his squad?

The NRL have zero ability to flag what the rules are for either of the above situations, because it wouldnt have even crossed their minds... theyre probably not even aware that the 20th man can still be activated in a game...

If something happens they will just react to that situation and wait for the media to tell them what they should do... theyre ****ing hopeless

I'm assuming Kuli is still 20th man for origin though?

Interesting that they're allowing the 20th man to play on the weekend, which hasn't been the case in previous years... Burton and Walsh last year missing the weekend, and then just sitting on the pine during origin.

The 20th man wouldn't be sitting on the pine. Only 19 players suit up

20th man still acts in the same way as 18th man does last year.

If someone gets torpedoed in the face and defender gets binned or sent then the 20th man is activated and the team is allowed to use a 5th interchange player... same with 2x HIA's in a game.

He's just less likely to be used because the coach has 2 other players picked to cover that situation.

I'm pretty sure it happened earlier in the year already.

Edit: Remembered that it was us... Rogers was activated from 20 jersey when Paix and Mozer went down with HIA's in the same game

I think you'll find your mistaken.

The 18th man comes from the 6 man bench

The first 4 bench players to take the field are regular interchanges, the other 2 can only be activated in the event an 18th man is required.

In Rogers case he was actually a part of the bench in jersey 22.

It was against the Cowboys. Reynolds went down before the match promoting Duffy to starting halfback in Jersey 18.

Tawha in jersey 17 and Perham in jersey 19 never took the field

Ricky's presser lasted less than 2 minutes. He didn't take questions from the media.

Here is what he said about the way the game was officiated

“The game has interpretations and rules and we’re in a position at the moment where we’re picking and choosing when we apply them and it’s a very frustrating situation for those who are involved as players and coaches,” Stuart said.

“In all the all the years I’ve been involved in the game as a coach, I’ve never been so confused.

“It’s disappointing to say the least, but I mean, just so confused at the moment, in regards to, I mean, you can’t have a rule and apply it one week and not the next week.

“It’s just, I’ve never been so confused, and it’s disappointing, because I love the game. Thank you.”

I swear it's happened... I can hear Vossy with a "hold on a minute here, this means the 20th man is now activated"

Was that because a player was injured in the warm-up?

I think you could both be right. You can only pick between your 19 players come kick off but each team has a 20th man on game-day.
