You can keep thinking that by quoting penalty differential it makes your point It doesnt. Its the dumbest thing in any sport and it will continue to be.
Just because teams win penalty counts doesnt mean they are getting preferential or favourible treatment. Its neanderthal analysis. It lacks any context.

Would be the same bloke that would argue teams cannot stop us if the Broncos had a differential like this. Unless you are analysing each decision as it was made it doesnt hold any weight. It is just an opinion. Exactly like mine. They are disciplined.
His graph supports my argument too. He is spinning it one way and Im spinning it another way. There is no actual fact to either of our statements.

Yeah Sutton has to let that go. If you say to him 5 seconds and it goes 2 seconds later just as he kicks it and then you blow the penalty??? Its like he forgot what he said. And his explanation was even stranger. Saying it isnt up to him. I see them ignore the scrum buzzer all the time. You can ignore it if you have altered the parameters. No feel as people would say.

Why even let it get down to the second?
Is 1-2 seconds really going to make the much of a difference to your ability to defend?
The ref was right when he said it was in their control. Just kick the thing.

I thought the wahs players were saying the clock on the screen wasnt correct, because they still had time when the buzzer went off and Sutton was saying thats not his problem... which it's not.. it's whoever at the ground is controlling the screen.
Same thing then happened with the scrum and at that point I think Sutton was basically saying if to pack earlier instead of trying to run it to the last second all the time

They were lucky to not get done for the first dropout, must have been a nanosecond from the buzzer going off because the clock had expired.

It wasn’t that the screen was wrong, the screen wasn’t showing the timer. It was running an ad
If it’s not in the ref’s control, then why does he say anything at all? The 5 second directive from the ref has to override everything else.

Because the rules say you can. Why do players look at the ref before getting off a tackle?
If it’s within the rules you have to be allowed to do it. If we don’t like it, we change the rules.
It’s like if the ref doesn’t go back the full 10ms, and then you get called offside even though you were behind the ref. You don’t then tell the player, well don’t stand so close to in line with the ref - go behind the ref further so there’s no doubt

I dont think the ref knows the time... bunker might say 5 seconds, but it's not like the ref is looking at a watch the whole time or even has it on his watch.
He couldve just said I dont know and they'd be blowing up as well... so he probably just said the last thing the bunker had told him.
Bunker knows, but the ref isn't going to have time to ask the bunker and relay it.
It's on the players if they want to run it down to the last possible second.
Should be on ref's tip sheets moving forward though... wahs run the clock to the last second

That wasnt the issue. They asked Sutton how much time they had and he told them 5 seconds and then he blows the penalty despite them kicking it within 2. Its a clear let it go play. You override everything. You are the boss.

Couldn’t agree less.
Whether it’s the ref, the bunker, or the ground, if something goes wrong, how do you blame and penalise the player?
Imagine the try line and dead ball line paint washed off and so the player stops before scoring and asks the ref how far they have left to go before the try line. The ref says “20m” then blows the whistle and says “you ran the ball dead. Not my responsibility to tell you where the try line is”. If it’s not your responsibility then don’t say anything.
On top of that, how can you accuse the player of running it down to the last second if there was no clock showing how long it had been? Was he counting in his head? Nope, he asked the offical how long he had left because there was no other available way to know. The ref said 5 seconds and he kicks it in 2.
In no world is that a penalty.

The rules also state if the buzzer sounds and you haven't kicked the ball, it's a penalty.

Yeah fair enough. I guess I didn’t account for refs having the ability to prank players. My mistake
