NRL 2026 Round 3 Discussion

Salmon looking for Ricky on the sideline

I love a good defensive game. Big hits, quality try savers and quality ball-play to actually break the defence down.

Good stuff.

It could have gone either way, in the end it took a smart ruck play to break the game open and the Raiders ran out of time.

Sanders is still green but he wasn't afraid to make the big play. On another night, he busts the tackle of Tracey and scores that try. It was Tracey's night but if Sanders can build on that he'll go a long way.

Raiders need to address that right-side. Long term it has to be Sanders right, Strange left.

Issue is Sanders is a leftie and the main kicker.

He's been looking good these first 3 games though

Sanders has been highly regarded for a long time.

IMO Coby black chose one of the worst possible clubs to go to
Definitely.

He probably should've gone to the titans... I think he's a coast kid, doesn't have to move and a good chance of becoming their 7 and goal kicker. Yes that's where careers go to die, but he doesn't even have one to die as yet.

Basically go anywhere that doesn't have a gun 7 already (parra, panthers, etc. ) or have their young gun 7 coming through (raiders, dogs, etc.) and you're a decent chance to actually play.

Raiders have been lining up a halves pairing of Strange and Sanders for like 3 years now, and it's not like Ricky is renowned for developing 7's... was just a stupid decision.

It doesn't even make much sense from a raiders point of view... they just lost Fogarty and they're going into the year relying on a young 7 with a 6 and 1 that can't kick.

They should've tried to get an experienced 7 just in case there was teething issues with Sanders.... not going into the year with 2 rookie 7's

I'm guessing his manager is mates with Ricky or something

Are Canberra getting found out by a draw that isn't as friendly as the draw they had last year?

1 from 3, the minor premiers of 2025.

I didn't see it, but Papalii has been charged with a grade two careless high tackle.

Could we see another Cleary defence?

Fun Fact ... The NRL are 0 from 2 with this charge in 2026

Lol if Papa gets off that shot then the game may as well start figuring out the costs for the CTE Class Action.

One thing he doesnt have going for him from the Cleary defence is arm being low... his arm is starting at head height.

But
- No HIA
- Feet likely planted
- Maybe the ball carrier lowered his height slightly 🤔🤔 (I only saw it once)

I'd say the Raiders will take the early plea and run away (laughing) with a 1 week suspension.
