I remember arguing with Twistid (Scott) about the Titans name. He wanted "Pirates" and I thought it was mage gay, still do in fact!

I thought the Pirates was a much better name than the Titans.

Imagine the mascot for the Pirates! Tell me it wouldn't be awesome.

And the merchandise! Imagine being able to buy a toy parrot to sit on your shoulder or a patch for your eye!!! The cash from those products alone would keep the club afloat.

It was a BIG mistake calling them the Titans.

The thing about "Titans" is there's usually a Titans team in every social touch/oztag/indoor cricket/netball competition in the world. It's so cliched it's pathetic.

But, yes, given other options they had little choice, especially with Redcliffe's waa waa we're the Dolphins, you can't use it, we'll have an NRL team one day.... Pffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffft.

Tits only folded because they wanted to be accepted in SE QLD, not come into being on the back of a messy court battle.

I'm still disgusted they ran with the name "Titans" in the first place to be honest.

And secondly, there's no way the surrounds could be any worse than the sh*thole of QEII, formerly ANZ Stadium, which we played out of for a hell of a long time. Hate the Titans, but hope they don't fall in a heap financially.

Just cliched crap, TBH. Dolphins or Pirates should've been the go. Dolphins in particular.

Mick, honestly mate how can "Titans" be considered anymore cliche than "Pirates"....especially for a team near water?

I agree Titans seems american (when you consider where the word comes from.....), however the other suggestions at the time were horrible; Rhinoes, Pirates, Buccaneers.

Maybe they should have gone with "The Folders"? Could have used a gambling theme and such....
