Sounded more like it was high level talks. After getting pushed he effectively said "the player agents will come and ask if you're interested and at that point you start negotiating"Also, listening between the lines, Holbrook was very careful how he worded things when asked about Coates and Staggs and basically admitted the agents have asked them if they are interested in them. Basically admitted they are looking at 3 or 4 Broncos and are expecting to get at least one.
It didn't seem like the titans reached out to the agent and indicated they were interested, rather the agent came to them
It's pretty well known that Staggs, Coates, etc. want to test their value on the market. GC is the closest in proximity to the Broncos so relocating their vs Sydney may be more viable for players... if the player agent can get some interest or a competitive offer from GC they can take it back to Brisbane and say match it.
I doubt GC can match us on Staggs and we've just upped the offer to Piakura... GC do need a 2nd rower with Proctor basically out the door, but they have Fermor who impressed last year (ie. a known commodity in their ranks). That would leave Coates, but I think the value floated for Coates is excessive (think it was $550k) and seems an unnecessary luxury buy when their priority is a hooker and also potentially re-signing ATay.
