Origin wont be officiated under the new rules, even Vlandys and Abdo know that would be the final nail in the coffin.

if they think there is a player revolt now, imagine the backlash when an origin is decided on the back of multiple players sitting in the bin.

I think they are that full of themselves that it wouldnt surprise me if nothing changes. The whole game has become unwatchable for me.

Is anyone else watching 360 right now?

Paul Kent needs to be removed from the Rugby League community for the good of the game in every aspect.
This bloke is a cancer on the modern game.
Damnit, I decided to go against every instinct and watched these idiots and, you’re right, he is a fool.
However, I couldn’t believe Rothfield at the end with his golf club crap where, after the Broncos putting up with heavy Origin representation and playing games without them the week before for years, all of a sudden, it happens to Penrith and the whole system is unfair and needs to change. Unbelievable.

Yea man i hear you, 3 weeks ago i swore i would never watch these fools again, but apparently i have masochist tendencies.

What really got me tonight though was Kents insistence that the players dont know what they want, or whats good for themselves and thus should have minimal say over what happens to the game.
He also doubled down that these changes are 100% in the interest of the players welfare, and while that factors into these changes, there is no doubt the primary reason these changes are happening is to avoid future litigation.

These players "ARE" the game, and denying them a voice is as foolish as it gets.
Kent just talks over the top of anyone with a different opinion to him and belittles others for having those opinions.
I have really come to hate the bloke and honestly believe his input is damaging to the game.

I can't belive buzzed just said it's not fair if Penrith have to play without their origin players.
Where the **** was he when we supplied 10 players on a regular basis.
All hunky dory then .

The NRL have really shot themselves in the foot with these rule changes.
If they enforce them at Origin level, they will see record low ratings and attendance.
If they relax the rules for Origin, then the entire system will look like a joke and Origin will be used as leverage by the RLPA for overturning Vlandysball.

The irony is not lost that it is themselves that have done it to themselves. It isn't surprising when the guy who runs the joint is an egotistical maniac who doesn't think before he acts and then wonders why people don't think the thought he had at lunch is amazing.

they've claimed it will be officiated under the new rules/interpretations etc

To be fair to Slothfield I believe he was specifically talking about Api who has been named 18th man, but will apparently miss the Panthers game.

Api could basically end up sitting out the whole weekend and not even play origin... that is a bit of a rubbish call I think.

I think he could've played the panthers game and 18th man for NSW... very low risk he would be playing 80mins for Panthers then 80mins for NSW because someone has been illegally taken out in the first minute, but even if he does they could easily put in a rule that he can't play 3 games in a week (due to player fatigue/welfare/whatever).

So either panthers risk him this weekend and hope he doesn't play for NSW, but if he plays both games then he must sit out round 14 for Penrith.

in some form ... Vlandys is too stubborn and egotistical to go back
I tend to agree. I don't think we will see anywhere near as many sin bins, especially for incidental contact, but potentially a lot of reports and penalties to show they are serious about the changes all while being super inconsistent in regards to the sin bin.

They have to be aware of the backlash they will face if the origin is decided by blokes sitting In the bin for what has historically been the roughest/toughest variation of the game where big hits and heavy contact is expected.

you're right while trying to defend Vlandys and the crackdown he said this which proves they plan to soften their stance. they've gone from forceful contact to the head is a sin bin to "at least a penalty":

"Direct, forceful contact with the head or neck should result in at least a penalty and potentially a sin bin or potentially a send-off depending on the seriousness. That goes without saying, I think that's obvious," Annesley said,

Which has been the rule since 1908 (and before). Geniuses, these NRL guys.

That’s how he started but that’s definitely not how he finished. “What integrity is there in our draw when the West Tigers get to play Penrith without six stars. I know it’s been going on for a long time but it’s unfair”.

What integrity is there in our draw when teams don't play each other an even number of times? I wish these numpties would stop pretending there is any attempt at fairness or integrity in the game.
