Thought I might dive in to the stats and see just how dominant Turbo was this season.. pretty self explanatory.

Tom Trbojevic -

15 games - 25 tries, 29 linebreaks, 30 try assists, 44 linebreak assists.

Anthony Milford, Brodie Croft, Tyson Gamble, Albert Kelly, Cory Paix & Karmichael Hunt combined -

52 games - 6 tries, 13 linebreaks, 29 try assists, 29 linebreak assists

I read somewhere that Trbo was responsible for more tries in his 15 games (via tries and try assists) than the entire bulldogs team had across the full season.

The big take-away should be the blockers around the ruck. Every team does it from time to time, but Penrith will do it every clearing kick. James Tamou used to sprint harder into that position than he would into the opposition line.

It's a bit like the Thurston bullshit. he wants to be able to dig deep in to the line to commit the defence, but if the gets hit it's unfair and the refs should protect him.

If Cleary doesn't want to get hit taking a kick, kick earlier and trade off accuracy. If he wants to take as long as possible to get the kick just right, he has no right to complain about copping a tackle if the defender has committed.

The NRL has announced that the Dally M Awards will be held over two nights this year ... another pointless change from this administration IMO.

NRL Chief Executive Andrew Abdo said:

“The Dally M Awards showcase the exceptional performances of the season and this year we can celebrate the achievements of our players and officials across two events,’’ he said.

“With the entire competition relocated to Queensland in 2021, it was important to think differently for our awards this year.

“We have a new format and the first ever Dally M event in Queensland, ahead of the first ever Grand Final in Brisbane.

“The new format will allow some players and guests in Brisbane to experience the gala evening in person while Fox Sports will ensure a state-of-the art experience for players and officials who have returned home.”


Fox Sports Executive Director Steve Crawley said

“We can’t wait to highlight the incredible performances of the players this season and the new format will better help us tell the stories of the game’s best,”

Format:

• The first television event will provide a greater spotlight on the supporting awards that are traditionally crowned on Dally M night and build excitement towards the Dally M Medal count a week later.
• The second event, on Monday, September 27, will feature the major award winners including the Dally M Medal, the Dally M Team of the Year, Coach, Captain and Rookie of the Year.
