I am tired of referees letting the panthers move off the defensive line too early. They have done it for years now. They move as soon as the ball hits the ground before it is even played/rolled.

They let Melbourne get away with the wrestle for years and now they are letting the panthers get away with this. It is infuriating
Infuriating indeed. Walking off the mark to make the marker look like they are not square and winning a 6 again is another of their 'plays'. Mind you I think they have picked that up from the Storm.

We shouldn't whinge, just copy.

I'm glad we've started abusing HIA's this year, great start, now we need to start abusing the ruck, 6 agains, rolling the ball and releasing 1 player at a time.

The NRL have shown they will not enforce the rules, so we need to take full advantage just like Melbourne do.

Benny was always loath to employ the wrestle when coaching us, but like you said if we don't move with the times we get left behind in a permanent state of yesteryear footy.

Article discussing what every spine is worth
All journo speculation of course.

TMM 80k/Gamble 150k/Reynolds 800k/Walters 120k /1.15m

We also have the cheapest spine in the game.

Panthers spine 2.9m, Eagles 2.85m, Roostesr 2.75m, Raiders 2.7m, Rabbits 2.55m, Knights 1.985m, Eels 2.9m, Dragons 2.74m, Cowboys 2.1m, Bulldogs 1.5m, Sharks 1.95m (Hynes 600k), Storm 2.8m, Tigers 2.06m, Titans 1.65m, Warriors 1.55m (Walsh apparently on 350k).

Storm numbers
Papenhuyzen 650k, Munster 1m, Hughes 700k, Grant 450k.

Grant re-signed at 1m, Hughes at 800k, Munster is on 1.2m next year, so they'll have 3.65m in their spine next year which is by far the most expensive.

I'll just list some fullback salaries

TMM 80k
Dufty 200k
Sloane 220k
Walsh 350k
Campbell 350k
Fidow 450k
Laurie 450k
Kennedy 400k
Klokstad 500k
Edwards 500k
Brimson 600k
Papenhuyzen 650k
Gutherson 750k
Mitchell 850k
Ponga 1.05m
Tedesco 1.1m
Turbo 1.1m

TMM on 80K is the obvious standout value for money. I'd also love 2 x Kennedy at that price.

Yep that was a Slater special that was then handed down to JAC... maybe with Coates there it will become extinct

I know we take these with a grain of salt but that Ponga salary is awful, he just isn't consistent at all. He still has time on his side but that really smacks of desperation that deal.

how is Ponga even close in salary to the likes of Turbo and Teddy

Exclusive vision of Brett Read on NRL Tonight...tonight:

Interestingly, Paul Kent pointed out last night the Brandon Smith has a dangerous tackling style where he essentially shoots in at players' knees and twists them around or at opposite directions to the direction other tacklers are moving and this is why NQ now have two players out with knee injuries. It was kind of brushed off by the others on the panel but you know what, this is a serious concern when it comes from a team like Melbourne who have consistently shown themselves to show no concern about welfare of anyone in the name of winning at all costs. I hope this gains momentum.

Kent also raised this issue in an article (don't recall him mentioning names though).

basically the article was about how long it would take for the MRC and Judiciary to clamp down on the Storm's latest dangerous technique, saying it took them far too long to clamp down on the crusher, chicken wing etc.

went on to say the Storm players were cleared by the NRL of the tackles that injured the Cowboys players

Watching the game live, my thoughts where that he could have easily made a decision to release his forceful grip of the legs/ankles when he could feel the tackle momentum going the other way. And the tackle would still be affective. I’m positive I have seen him do this a few times before and thought the same thing. In my view it’s an intentional decision to note release and actually keep going with his twisting motion. you could even see him sheepishly jog away head down aware of his action. Grub.

Yep and it isn't like he hasn't done this kind of grubby rubbish before. He's a germ, fits his current and future club perfectly. I really, really hope he disappoints at the Roosters and I suspect he will.

The Storm have truly fucked this game. From cheating the cap to performing dangerous tackles, leading to anything even remotely similar being over-policed by the refs, to not growing the game in their entire state. Seriously, **** the Melbourne Storm and anyone who defends them.

Bellamy will retire soon, he's the main instigator. Others do it but not to that level and probably in response to them.

If anyone deserves to suck at the Roosters and subsequently fail a drug test, it’s this guy.

Don't expect anything to come from it. There's a reason the other panelists brushed it off. Melbourne are THE protected species of the competition because of their market.

I’ve watched the B.Smith tackles a few times and can’t see what he has done wrong
