**** these halfwit coaches putting any decent fullback straight into 5/8 as young as possible.

My thoughts exactly mate. Ponga is a gun Fullback, will be completely wasting his prime running game years trying to turn him in to Lockyer, much like we did with Milford (Except Milford actually played in the halves in juniors and showed flashes of playmaking, Ponga is exclusively a Fullback..)

Yeah man it pisses me off. AJ Brimson at the titans too. Brennan the other day said he's going to play him at 5/8, but they already have Tyrone Roberts and Riley Jacks covering that position, Peachey can play there too. Why play Brimson there?? It's such a waste.

Yep, how many times have we seen it? Lockyer and Milford were already halves, who were played at fullback at the start of their first grade career out of necessity.

Add to the list Hayne & Moylan. Granted I don't know about their junior levels, but both of those are classic examples of just because they have been known to throw a nice pass from fullback, that coaches think they will make an NRL-standard five-eighth.

TBA for #10 for the indigenous team? Someone was named but pulled out, or just a literal dearth of props? I know the forward pack was typically short in depth for previous indigenous teams, maybe even moreso now that a bunch are technically also maori's and are playing for them instead.

Ryan James is the 10
And is Gagai aboriginal? What's he doing lining up for the Maoris?
And yes, the indigenous team is very weak on front rowers

Home truth, pal: he didn’t know nothin.

Sure he didn't. If you think any NRL head coach wouldn't know what their salary cap position is at any time then your delusional.

Sarcasm detector broken or something?

Torres Strait Islander and Maori descent. He was born in Mackay.

I seem to recall being able to select Gagai in previous Indigenous All Star line-ups.

Milford is a curious case. He came through U/16s and U/18s as a halfback, but had to play in other positions (centre, fullback) to make the Raiders U/20s side. Before he could ever find his footing in 20s, he was rushed into first grade after Dugan's dismissal.

I agree with the point you're making, I just wanted to point out that Moylan did indeed come through the grades as a five-eighth. Penrith had a surplus of halves at the time, so Matt found himself at fullback and began playing some really good footy. I don't think he was ever a natural in the position, his positinal play left something to be desired and his kick returns were ordinary to say the least. Still, his ability to essentially play the second five-eighth role made him invaluable.

I just found this cleaning out the garage.

Anyone remember these? I used to collect these all the time, but only have been able to find the 1999 season.

You think you could possibly zoom up on the Broncs/QLD/Aus photos? Would be interesting to see close up. Maybe even NSW.
