NRL Round 5 Discussion

I really feel like the sin bin situation is malicious compliance.

"Oh, Andrew Abdo the CEO thinks he knows the rules better than us? Okay, we'll do things the way he wants it done. Enjoy your precious product Andrew"

Definitely. The late 3rd man flop in the tackles even when they haven't won the ruck goes a long way towards winning games.
Complete opposite of our defensive system which is constantly retreating

As sad as it is, our problem is that we don't keep making the same rule breaks that other teams do even after getting called out. The ref will eventually stop blowing a penalty for it if you keep it going and let's face it, we keep getting smashed in penalty counts anyway, so we should take advantage of it more than we do.

Canterbury are playing that Cronulla style when they won the comp.

Very strong defensively and will find a way to milk out a try or two and then just beat you with pressure. They didn't get on top of Newcastle until Newcastle were a man down.

I wonder if their playstyle is sustainable over a whole year.

They are playing so fast in defence and keeping it up for the full 80mins.

It looked like they dialled it back against eels, trying to have a rest before the sharks game, and they almost lost to them... so they can't really afford to dial back their effort and coast through a game, which will make it a tough slog of a year for them.
