NRLW NRLW and Women's Rugby League General Discussion 2026

Seems like the Levi sisters might make a switch to NRLW for 2026. Maddison is an absolute try scoring freak in sevens so should be interesting to watch.

Can’t wait for the Roosters to sign them

Now watch the NRL not do the stand down because she’s a woman..

Surprisingly, the NRL haven't changed any rules for WSOO and NRLW this year:

NSW and Queensland will reduce their 20-strong squads name for the opening Women's State of Origin in Newcastle on April 30 to 17 players ahead of kick-off.

Women’s State of Origin and the upcoming NRLW season will be played under virtually unchanged rules from 2025, with four players on the bench and no set re-starts.

While most rules in the NRLW and Women’s State of Origin are similar to the NRL, there are some key differences, including:

  • Interchange: The NRLW and WSOO allows up to 10 interchanges per match, compared to eight in the NRL.
  • 35-minute halves: The NRLW features 35-minute halves as opposed to 40-minute halves.
  • No six-agains: The six-again rule implemented in 2020 does not apply to the women’s game, with penalties only.
  • Modified 40/20: The 40/20 and 20/40 rules have been modified for the NRLW with the 40/30 and 20/50 rules, a reduction of 10 metres.
NRL Executive GM, Elite Football and Pathways Graham Annesley said the rules for the 2026 NRLW season remain unchanged from 2025.

"While it is important the rules of the men's and women's games are largely consistent, the few differences reflect the on-going growth of the NRLW competition and its development pathway," Annesley said.

“The rules will be revisited on an annual basis as the game continues to evolve."

Last line hints at it coming next year.

Personally I'd like to see them go to full 80 min games - despite how close many games have been, 5 minutes less per half seems a bit arbitrary, and gives those who don't like it an easy target.

We're also getting to the point where the 40/30-20/50 rule is not necessary

I sincerely hope they never bring in the 6 game, it would ruin the comp.

It's already pretty much a two horse race at this point. Bringing in the 6 again won't change that. It would just give us and the Roosters even more of an advantage.

Titans finally sign a Levi - Teagan

Looks like it’s just for this season so far

Kennedy Cherrington changes allegiance to represent New Zealand.

Thankfully will never have to see that overrated grub in an Australian jersey again

Maddie Ashby and Sariah Paki have joined from 7s. Ashby joins the Sharks and Paki likely Roosters

Ashby is engaged to Kaeo Weekes and will play with his sister at the Sharks

I’ve found where she’s ended up - playing BMD for the Falcons

Didn’t have a contract so the NRL I guess can’t ban her, but yeah
