NYC Round 11 - Knights vs Broncos

Young Broncos On Fire

THE NRMA Insurance Broncos’ under-20s juggernaut continues to roll after they belted the Newcastle Knights 52-12 at Hunter Stadium tonight.
Leading 24-6 at halftime, the Broncos went straight for the throat, producing three tries in a five-minute burst after the break.
First interchange forward Keegan Hipgrave threw a ‘show and go’ to score under the posts.
From the following restart, Jarryd Dodd scored out wide before halfback Will Brimson got in on the act to make it three tries in consecutive sets.
Paul Byrnes kicked his seventh –straight goal and the Broncos led 42-6 with 26 minutes still remaining.

The Broncos had the half century up in the 68[SUP]th[/SUP] minute after consecutive tries to Kalolo Saitaua and Byrnes, which was the fullback’s second of the night.
Knights’ prop Daniel Safiti got a consolation try for the home side with four minutes left.
Earlier the Broncos had a dream start after Brisbane kicked off but had the ball by the second tackle of the match after the Knights spilled it.
Two tackles later Jayden Nikorima danced through the line to make it 4-0 after 44 seconds.
It was 12-0 in the 15th minute after hooker Jayden Berrell darted from dummy half and split the line, dummying his way past the Newcastle fullback to score under the posts.
The Knights hit back quickly, hooker Danny Levi going over to make it 12-6 in the 21[SUP]st[/SUP] minute.
Byrnes then produced a long-range effort, running diagonally across the field until he found a chink in the Knights’ defence.
He broke through and then used pace to beat the fullback to the try line, converting the goal for 18-0 after 27 minutes.
The lightning-quick Nikorima had his second before halftime, stepping his way over in the 35[SUP]th[/SUP] minute to set up a 24-6 halftime lead.

BRISBANE BRONCOS NYC 52 (P Byrnes 2, J Nikorima 2, J Berrell, K Hipgrave, J Dodd, W Brimson, K Saitau tries; Byrnes 8 goals) defeated NEWCASTLE KNIGHTS NYC 12 (D Levi, D Safiti tries; B lamb 2 goals) at Hunter Stadium.

Byrnes kicking well. That's 2 good goal kickers in the U20's. We certainly need those!

I agree.
been singing his praises for a couple of seasons now

I agree.
been singing his praises for a couple of seasons now

His work this year is a lot better than anything he produced in his previous 42 games, he was really good last year in the finals and since then he has been killing it.

I realize that this but over the previous two seasons at times you could see something special. Even when they had him on the wing he seemed to bob up in the middle of the ground making breaks and sweating on off loads. Has some pace also. I hope we keep him

I also am of the belief Byrnes was robbed of an Australian jersey this year to fit in a player that could not make it into the team in his halves position
