Paul Harragon has quit The Footy Show, which means we may be one step closer to reverting the show back to a show about Rugby league, similar to the Foxtel's footy show's or the Sunday Footy Show.

Now all we need is for 9 to lose Matt "I only played rep because of the Super League War" Johns and Fatty, get Sterling back and I would actually watch it again.

Nothing wrong with a bit of humour though Hammo.. Just need some funny guys on the show who aren't so biased towards the club they once played for..

TBH, I still think there's a place for a BIT of fun and humour, but it should all be balanced.

If the Footy Show panel was something like Johns, Fatty, Sterlo and Vossy, it'd be awesome IMO. Johns and Fatty are idiots, but they do know their football and are usually nowhere near as cringe-worthy as Chief or Daley.

Sterlo knows his stuff, and Vossy is just awesome IMO. Both of those guys could be running a funny show which is still serious and informative.

Sterlo is the only bloke who I respect, both as a person, and his knowledge of the game, on Channel 9's team!

The Footy Show in the 90's was excellent IMO.

Good balance of humour and footy talk.

I know not many here aren't fans, but i reckon Fatty is a champ and if they could get Sterlo back, well they may begin to win a larger share of viewers.

I used to watch it religiously, up until about 2005 or so where i completely went off it.

Remember all the good Anti-Ads they used to have in the late 90's? They were piss funny!

I hate to say it. But I would rather listen to Him and Gould than the rest. I hate Gould, but he knows his shit.

I think most agree with you, Nashy.

Gould, minus his agendas, is pretty much the #1 league brain and commentator in the country. Honestly, if he could keep his pissweak personal agenda out of what he said, no one would hate him at all.

Sterlo is the best of that bunch IMO, but I'd really love to see more of Vossy. I reckon he's a great character who is a damn good reporter, knows his stuff, and comes out with some good one-liners at times.

I think Gould has done very well to convince everyone that he has the best football brain in the game. He is the biggest "after the event" commentator out there, and constantly hedges his bets. Saying "if the Broncos control possession and play well" is not insightful, but funnily enough always results in an "I told you so" at the end of the game. I'm not saying he knows nothing, but his endless big-noting of his own "predictions" makes him seem a lot cleverer than he actually is.

Aside from this, and his agendas, I also find his commentary style really irritating. He's loud, obnoxious, repetitive, argumentative and constantly talks over the other commentators. I would not miss him at all.

I think the best panel would be Sterlo, Voss, Fatty (for light relief) and someone new and not afraid to have and express an opinion.

x 120000000. I have been saying for years, Gould is "after the event".

Also, on Fatty, Fatty appears easily led. In Sterlo's or Voss's oe even Mal or The King's company he is a straight talker, with a great balance of humour and can raise and debate great footy talk. In the company of imbecile's, eg Johns, Daley, Harragon, etc he turns into a goose.

I think the whole show needs to "mature" a little, lose the belittling of Fenech, etc. the gay jokes, possibly even employ a few members of Frontline/Working Dog Productions or even some of the writers from Fast Forward (Magda Szubonski seems to be doing little these days). That would add maturity to their humour and then cross that with "real" footy experts.

I HATED THE THATS GOLD SEGMENT...so cringe-worthy and not funny
Fatty could never go...it wouldn't be the footy show without him I wouldnt care if Daley goes, sit on the fence to much!!!
I honestly dont mind matty...except when hes being a goose.
If they decided to get another host on the show i hope its someone who has really strong opinions...i dont care if i dont agree with them...i want to see some debates!!!
Nrl on fox is deffiatly more informative, I like watching the roast...and even though i hate to admit it, its because Gould is on it...Bnt i cant stand when hes gets on his high horse and pretends he's god, and I almost always turn on the sunday footy show and have it on in the back ground.
I think its a bit of a catch 22 though, yes i want the footy show to be more informative but i wouldnt want it to turn it to a carbon copy of another show...and i dont want it to be axed!!

Fatty, Sterlo, Mark Geyer and Vossy on the panel.
Let Matty Johns have a Reg segment every episode and his own interviews with people, but remove him from the core group of hosts.
Get Shane Webcke involved in some fashion, giving opinions on the news or upcoming games, etc. One of the most relevant and well-spoken ex-players out there.

Nothing to do with his predictions. He's just got an awesome in-depth knowledge of the game. If he chose to be a head coach again, IMO he'd be one of th ebest we've seen. His commentating style is definitely annoying too icon_thumbs_u

Agree Webcke would be great - but he works for Ch7

Bring it to 8.30 instead of the fail that is 9.30 and maybe they'll get there with the 'revamp'.

I'll ask him to defect next time I see him jogging past my place icon_thumbs_u

From what I remember the humour used to be ABOUT the football, then it just became a series of lame in jokes between a bunch of yobs, then Matt Johns was briefly amusing with some gay and bogan humour, then they made us look at Ray Hadley one more time, then we have the crapola we have now.

For me, I'd like to see a light hearted look at football. I'd like to see an actual comedian there fulltime as well to keep things moving.
