One thing to fix the Broncos

We need to go to market for an almost entirely new spine.

1. ?
6. ?
7. Dearden
9. Turpin/?

It's been buried under everything else, but missing out on Ponga when the best fullback we could field at the time was Dawius is just unforgivable, and goes to show the shine on the club that attracted all sorts of talent has long since been smeared with shit.

Not entirely. For mine, Farnworth for FB or Niu (I prefer Farnworth potentially another Tedesco)

Having said that, Farnworth has this great ability to beat his man on the inside or out which we saw last night, similar to Staggs, so they would make a killer centre pairing once Darius gets punted ... hopefully next week, with Niu into the centres.

The other positions we can wait until we see if the dog's breakfast that is our spine comes good after Turps returns and shows what he can do.

Change all the contracts to a performance based pay system.
Actually i would advocate that for all clubs.
Base salary, then extras for Qld rep (origin), Aus rep, club games played. After 1st year a multiplier for no suspensions, bonus system for KPI's eg tackles made, metres gained, try assists etc.
Nrl should set base salary, so Aus captain is highest ranked player, then Qld & Nsw & Nz captains, th3n 3rd tier nation captains and so on. Set a minimum base salary, & maximum 3rd TPAs for the high profile players. Exemptions & cap relief for long term club players eg, 5, 10 yrs. Nrl to pay salary for all contracted players under 21......needs some tweaking but would eventually produce a fairer competition (imo)

Stat attack broncos 20200619 1

These are damning stats. In addition to the shit discipline, Decoy and supports runs clearly indicate how childish our one out attack is and that it has not been isolated to this season.

They don't want to be out there. It's as simple as that. They'd rather be out on the town on the sauce whining about how useless the coach is.

Give the side the weekend off. Seriously. Don't even talk to them. Lock them out of the fancy training facilities. Don't even talk to them. Anyone talks to the coach, he rips their heads off. They don't come back until they want to and no one gets paid.

One thing? Fitness.... They all have ability and skill, maybe not the best but if they were the fittest in the comp, they would make less mistakes and be able to apply pressure for 60-80 minutes, currently we're lucky to push teams for 10-20 mins.

Frequently see them struggling to apply pressure after the first few mins of the game in defence, they struggle to make the 10 then just take a step or two forward... that’s either lazy or poor fitness - even worse when there are repeat sets, they just give up.

Fix that and they would be a lot less embarrassing.

Realistically, I think the next thing that will help us a bit will be Fifita coming back. No one else in the side offers is as much of an offensive threat as he is. TPJ can come close when he's at his best, Staggs can have his moments (and I hope we can see these 2 combine a bit too again. I keep remembering that Staggs try against the Roosters), but Fifita is the star we'll need to rely on to get us out of trouble and shift the momentum with a huge run or a busting try. Just having him on the edge will make the attacking movements more dangerous overall too.

It's just a short term improvement though, long term there need to be significant improvements in the main areas of the game.

Move Haas to the 2nd row. He can be our version of Kickau. They are almost the same size. Haas and Fifita on the edges ... hmmm. TPJ to prop. Oates to bench 2nd row only. Never to wing again.

I have a high opinion of fullback Reece Walsh who is coming through now and I would give Paix a chance to show what he can do in his preferred position in the halves.

Would love to get Grant, just got to hope Smith doesn't retire and he wants to come here.

Well if you're coming last in possession you're probably also coming last in a lot of stats that rely on you actually having the ball

Need the leadership group to stand up and set out a fine system... penalties, set restarts, missed tackles, errors, etc. sees you cop a fine.... or every error, etc. Is how many laps the whole team have to do on Monday after reviewing the tape.

Take them back to baby school training if that's what they need to be motivated to play.

Force the team to set their own standards and punish those that fall out of line... punishing the whole group for errors also falls into the not letting your mates down.

If some players are still not giving a **** they'll start to get offside with the playing group and be held accountable

It's like the alcohol bans that teams go through... it's setup by the playing group to unite them and focus on a single goal. In this case the single goal is a focus on doing the fucking basics right and if you **** up you know the whole team will be punished for it.

Running laps all day might actually improve their fitness as well
