So for not paying attention to either life or the boards, I missed the sale completely and feel like a total fool - looks like I'm going to Sydney to see locky off - does anyone know a way to get scalped tickets as the ones on ebay get cancelled???

They will have another sale of those as we get closer to the game. Plenty of unhappy customers who also had their tickets cancelled because they had them sent to a PO Box. Apparently it was in the fine print that this wasnt allowed. Poor form by the QLD [icon_thumbs_do

Livermore was saying this morning that the second release will be in a couple of weeks - it will be advertised on the QRL website, so keep your eyes out if you want some.

And on the PO Box thing - that has been the case for a number of years. You have to tick a box that you've read the terms and conditions and yes I know hardly anyone does, but if you don't and you tick the box you run the risk of not getting the tickets. Apparently scalpers are more likely to use PO Boxes instead of street addresses and this is why most major events these days won't let you have a PO Box for tickets. I say poor form from ticketek for the original emails it sent saying people had the tickets - they should have had a disclaimer "subject to QRL approval" or something. I understand there are genuine non-scalpers who have now missed out cause they used a PO BOx, but thems the rules - unfortunately idiot scalpers ruin things for decent people.

thanks guys - guess I'll have to check the QRL website every day now!!!

Second Release Of Origin Tickets
19/04/2010 1:41:10 PM

A SECOND release of State of Origin Game 2 match tickets to be held on June 16 at Suncorp Stadium will go on sale to the general public on Wednesday, April 21 at 9.00am through Ticketek.

This is a limited release of tickets due to the cancellation of tickets from account holders that breached the ticket Conditions through the first release.

Any person who has already purchased the maximum allocation of six(6) tickets to the match is precluded from ordering any further tickets.

Please contact the Queensland Rugby League if you have any questions regarding the Ticket Conditions.

Thanks. I'll get myself some tickets this time around.

If I jump on the website at exactly 9.00 am is there a good chance of getting some(2-3) or is it luck of the draw?

You have as much chance as everyone else who jumps on at exactly 9am - but a better chance than someone who jumps on at 9.01am. However don't think you can jump on much before 9am and get a better chance because Ticketek times you out exactly 8 minutes after you open their page (not after you log in, but from the moment you open the web page).

Personally I am always got tickets on the first release so not sure how likely you will be to get them on second release (when there are far less available). But best advice - know exactly what category and how many you want, log in, select what you want, accept their first offer of tickets and get your payment done. DO NOT THINK OR SECOND GUESS YOURSELF ONCE YOU ARE LOGGED IN.

Good luck

Thanks for the advice :)
I've heard so many stories of sell outs in such a short space of time so I'm hoping if I jump on at 8.55 (8 minute time out hehe) than I should be able to grab one.

Nup. Don't do 8.55 because if the website is clogged then you will time out before you even get to the checkout. 9am on the dot. or 8:59.

That being said, last year the website was very quick and responsive during the first release of tickets so hopefully it will be again.

What was it like this year during the first release?

thanks heap flutterby!!!! - and after I was a tool about my Melbourne hatred, thanks - now its up to missus to get the tickets!!

IMO the trick is to go for the lower category tickets. Everyone busts their balls going for category 1 which simply aren't available to the general public. They're raffled off too sponsors and corporates...

I always go for the ones on the second tier behind the posts and have been fortunate enough to get them every time I've tried.

The lady at ticketeck said it was a good strategy due to the reasons stated above...

I reckon the trick is just to go for Best Available and accept the first offer.
