Parramatta - What is going on?

Of course, without effort and attitude it doesn't matter how good you are, skill wise. It was more in response to mrslong laughing at the players the Eels have being considered a star studded backline...Inu and Hayne, at their best, are probably two of the most exciting attacking backs in the comp. They just don't give a shit at the moment.

I do recall back in the Warriors days too that Anderson was accused of not "getting" polynesian players and not being able to get the best out of them long term...could be a real problem at the Eels!

That's the key.

Look at our team over the last 3 weeks. The wins? Meh!

Given our talent, we should have 100 points-for more than what we have ATM.

Given the key issues of “effort & attitude†- Friday's game will be very interesting.

Yep, who will be more lazy and disinterested? Given the criticism Parramatta's copping week in week out, I think they're due to fire up.

If they do, & we don't - irrespective of the result, I'm going to start to worry.

Most teams fire up after a thrashing so I'm worried about facing Parra this week.

I think Kris Keating is going to be a good little player. I think his game against the Dragons in round 5 was his best performance so far. It's true that the Eels don't have that quality halfback at the moment, but there are two blokes currently in their U20's team that look the goods - Daniel Mortimer and Albert Kelly. For the moment I think it should be Keating and Robson in the halves with Mateo moving back to a ball playing lock. I think that would give Parramatta their best attacking combination. Possibly bring in Kevin Kingston as well for a little bit more spark off the bench.

In the long term Parramatta are fine. This season is probably a lost cause.

Star studded by comparison to quite a few other clubs though.

Souths
Capewell - who?
Merritt - good finisher, but hardly a star
Champion - meh
Best - past it
Talanoa - meh

Gold Coast
Campbell - small star
Gordon - rookie
Tonga - rookie
Delaney - solid
Walker - past star trying to work back to form

Bulldogs
Patten - solid
El Masri - goalkicker, nothing else
Morris - potential star
Millard - average
Goodwin - potential star

Those are 3 of the top 8 teams.

Inu, Hayne, Smith, Burt, Reddy/Grothe would match any of them.

The difference is:
Souths: Sandow, Sutton
Bulldogs: Kimmorley, Roberts
Titans: Prince, Rogers

Quality halves.

Parah
Burt, meh
inu, meh has done nothing for at least a year
hayne, meh has done nothing for at least a year
reddy, good finisher does the job
grothe, worst defender, can be good on his day.

they are hugely overrated. Sure we can say if they hit form, but you could say the same about alot of players in those teams you mentioned, patten was brilliant yesterday and burt had nothing on him.

I had a nice little crack at Parra for the spoon this year. They bought no one and showed they were going to keep their powder dry until Anderson decides who he wants to keep.

I thought after last week they might have been able to scrap a win with some pride - I had no idea Hindy was not in the team.

Also they were 2.60 for the multi. Had to take it.

Penniless Parra face financial oblivion

PARRAMATTA Leagues Club is staring into a $28 million black hole that has led one bankruptcy expert to declare it on the verge of "woeful insolvency".

Already reeling from a record $9.12 million loss last year and a bitter boardroom challenge this weekend, the club is also in immediate debt to the tune of $24,137,651. Believed to be an unpaid bank loan or mortgage, the monster debt constitutes a major chunk of the $31,603,787 worth of current liabilities declared in the 2008 Annual Report.
