OFFICIAL Payne Haas to depart Broncos at the end of 2026

As a few posters have been saying;

I don't get the ploy here;

Brisbane was ready for a 2027 deal, that would have let him go r360, or a huge pay packet elsewhere...

He would have already got 1.1-1.2 till then... thats walsh/clearly/ponga/brown level of money... (who are all spine players)

Souths can't be paying him "too much" more...

His whole fam is in Brisbane, he's been with us for 10 years, won the comp etc.

---

I think the only thing that makes sense is:
He really does want a 'change'... in terms of, you won the comp with your childhood club, monkeys off your back, you are 26, you want to 'explore the world' etc.

It seems he was ALWAYS going to do that anyway, it didn't seem like he was heading towards the 'bronco for life' route, that HOPEFULLY Walsh/Carrigan take...

Kinda feels like... you dated your high school sweetheart for 10 years plus, you are 26, the gal wants to now settle down , get married and have kids, but you just feel you want to explore the world before you do that.... that kinda feeling, I reckon , is fair game.

And once you DO get that feeling, you do really need a change.

Bad news guys, according to David Riccio with Reynolds retiring and Haas gone we are now in a rebuild. Amazing how the media go from Reyno being too old and shouldn't even be part of the team moving forward to his retirement being a "hammer blow" and putting us into a rebuild lol.

Yet apparently souths with dads army are in a premiership window now…

I think they forget we already have Reyno's replacement signed up already

The more I think about it, Payne can get ****ed for how he has handled this. He couldn't even give us one full off-season to bask in the glory before he handed the scumbags in the media the ammo the needed to start attacking us again. It's not even 24 hours and the whole narrative is we are in a rebuild, Madge is off with the players and responsible for him going. Piece of shit

The don't forget, they ignore it and when someone brings it up it is either waived away as "is he even good" or now that with Payne gone does he even want to go to The Broncos anymore and encouraging Parra to try and get him to reneg.

I doubt it was Haas's idea to leak out the information.

He's given the club a full season's notice, better than doing it after round 1, 10 or before finals.

There's a bit of magic in a Mamazoulous, Humphries, ?, Grey spine mate. Don't forget the fat bastard Mitchell who averages about 14 games a season and had to be moved to centre because of his fitness issues, a clocked off FIfi who hasn't done anything in 3-5 years, and an easy going 80 year old "man managing" coach who hasn't won a comp in 16 years and refuses to change his methods to suit the modern game.

Who is Mick Crawley? Is he another nepo brother of "Crawls"?

He has a rage bait article on FoxSports where he basically sucks off Bennett and bags out Madge.

Steve is the managing director and runs League on Fox, Mick is the coaching one- Dragons, Cowboys, Raiders, Knights and Cutters and Paul is the Journo.

Steve also wrote Don't die with the music in you- Bennett's book.

I don't get wishing Haas all the best. I hope he is great this season and then falls of a cliff thereafter if he goes. I don't wish him well as a player at all, hope he becomes a shadow of what he's been for us. I only want Broncs players to do well.

He's going to a club, with two of the most toxic personalities in league. Cody and Latrell caused a big stink there with Sam Burgess and all Wayne has done is smooth things over a bit. Latrell and Cody are still lazy AF in games and that's bound to rub Payne the wrong way.

Add in, phone it in Fifita....... I can't see how this is conducive with a high performance team.

Payne proved in the spoon and failure years that just because you have a meter eating prop, it does not equal success.
