OFFICIAL Payne Haas to depart Broncos at the end of 2026

Look, some might disagree which is fine, some might say its copium too.

Haas is a monumental loss. Best prop in the game by a distance for mine. But he is still a prop, and that amount of money is tough to drop on a prop.

Let's say Fleggy goes great this year. You can get Fleg back, have excess cash to bolster elsewhere, and we have some great young props coming through.

You'd be trading an origin and international prop for another one, and bolster another position or 2.

Dont get it twisted. Im gutted, and seeing him play for another team in the nrl will suck. But its not the end of the world.

It means we can front load some contracts in 2027 if needed to get pay up a bit on some more forwards for 2028. We've just gotta back our production line of talent and back that playing with Walsh will entice players to come to us..
You don’t just get to wake up and decide you are going to pay your players an accumulated 1.1 early with less than 12 months notice…

For those saying to try and get Flegs back, I agree in theory because I am one of his biggest fans ... but there are some obstacles in addition to how he returns from the injury that has kept him out for the last two years.

firstly he isn't available until the 2028 season

secondly, he would need to take a pay cut because as much as i rate him, he isn't worth the 900k a season he is on at the Phins (figure from zero tackle)

Haas is like dating that hot girl in town who is constantly chased by every guy. You enjoy the time together while it lasts and always know that she’s going to move on eventually so don’t get too attached.

Haas was never a bronco, it was just our turn lol

I think Haas is worth 1M+, but no other prop is. He probably caused the inflation of other props getting paid big overs. I don't think the Broncos need to panic and replace him with an overpaid front rower. Maybe make a couple of smaller, smarter signings like improving the 2nd row position.

I’m just keen to hear the number. I’m not sure how with all the huge contracts they have that they have turned Kean and Moale into Payne Haas???
Keppie 400k, Keaon 700k, Moale 400k

That’s 1.5m right there
