OFFICIAL Payne Haas to depart Broncos at the end of 2026

The thing that just puzzles me is how bad of a signing it is for Souths. It makes no sense for there club to sign a forward on 1.2 million dollars who the only 2 years this decade he has made finals is because Reece Walsh was the best player in the comp. Really strange. I rate Payne but he isn't a match winner. That club has no spine and no depth and they decide to go spend 1.2 on a Prop??? that makes no sense to me. Payne is a luxury very few clubs can logically afford. It puts there cap deeper into mess.

I don't look at that Rabbitohs side and squad and think premiership, AT ALL. They are all held together by sticky tape most the year. Don't get me wrong the only player worth that money at there club is Payne Haas but they are going to spend his entire contract struggling whilst they try to put the pieces around him.

Great coach, big club, good facilites. I get all of that. I get why he chose Souths (beyond the puzzling decision to leave the Broncos). He's not a match winner without the right pieces. Souths do not have the right pieces at all. Over stacked in the forwards, zero depth, bottom 9 worthy spine and overrated backline.

I love Payne he is a terrific player that works his ass off and that's what you need for a front rower. He is the best front rower of all time in my opinion. He isn't a match winner. 1.2 million dollars is for match winners.

Not to mention the lazy sack of shits they have around him. Smith, Fifita, Mitchell and Walker in the same team is a DISASTER.

Wayne looks worse than a 90 year olds ballsack. I wouldn't have gone anywhere expecting him to still be around.
Latrell and Fifi told Wayne to do it so he did it! Now Payne can hang with the boys and take it easy in pre season while the actual contenders train their asses off

As if the club would even consider sacking the current premiership winning coach, even if he was solely responsible for losing the player that ALREADY had one foot out the door.

I used to rate James Graham as an intelligent analyst... Unfortunately, he's gone the same way as the rest of the rugby league media lemmings.
I'll be on Madge's side regardless of what happened. The bloke just won us a comp and has every player in the squad looking better than ever on the field. I'll back him to go out and find a couple of hard working middles to come in and make 100-150m a game on minimum wage (he's already done it with Talty).

I listened to James Graham's podcast. His take in it was that the club should sack Maguire if he is the problem to keep Haas. Just to be clear, this is not a joke post, that was his actual take. Luke Keary was sniggering in the background when he was saying it.

I think Graham has CTE

Watching him in the lead up to the GF etc, he was death riding the Broncos.

He wasn't happy that we won the semi finals & GF.

It's so funny, all it comes down to if the media likes you or not. When we lost the GF in 2023 it was ridiculous to suggest Kevvie would be under any pressure and when he was sacked later that next season they nearly rioted. Madge just won the premiership and James Graham had a fever dream that Payne is leaving because of him and it's like "**** him off".

The assertion we should sack the coach when the last game we played had the side winning the comp, it's hilarious.

I didn't think many would be quicker to out a coach than they were on here when Kevvie took the helm after inheriting a genuine wooden spoon team but here we are.

Graham is good mates with Burgess... who left Souths after winning the comp.

Madge also beat him in the GF in 2014.

That's effectively enough for someone in the media to have an agenda

Wow.. this Haas signing is shining a light on Souths roster and 2027 and 2028 is looking spicy for them with all of the players off contract in 2027. Wayne up to his familiar games with rosters!

I bet Souths high balled haas. But all you’ll hear about is how we low balled him lol.
Bennett and Prestige Worldwide are setting the narrative at the moment.

If Souths say they got a bargain and Mr Worldwide says they're paying my client his real worth, then that's what gets run

So if he does have R360 clause, what if it gets up in 2027? never plays a game for Bunnies, or since Vlandys has gone soft on R360 could he play BOTH?

It's not going to get up. If Haas management thought there was any chance of that, it wouldn't be a three year deal.....

But then again, NRL contracts really aren't worth the paper they are printed on.

Do you expect Payne to call a journalist and say he has the shits with Patty or Reece for looking at his baby mama’s tits the wrong way or something? You will never know why he left, but journalists are the same as you. They speculate and run with whispers. Don’t pretend you’re above it.
Calm down Peter! For once, no one is calling you out for all your shit “inside sauces”…
We will wait for during the season… start a thread called “Badel’s Blunders” 🤣
