Perth Bears

My worry, and I know it's not a big issue is why are we adding 3 predominantly red, black and yellow teams to the comp in a row.

Dolphins should be red and gold, Bears should be gold and black and Chiefs should be grey and pink.

They are all slick but the predominantly yellow one is my favorite.

BTW does anyone know if the chiefs will be fielding a team in the NRLW?

Wouldn’t think so for a while. It’d basically be the Orchids side anyway unless they get a lot of mercenary interest. which could be more appealing for the women as they don’t get paid as much so proportionally, tax free could make that more attractive than it does for the men

The Bulldogs have reportedly lodged a complaint with the NRL about Meninga and the Bears after Meninga made comments about his interest in signing Bulldogs duo Jacob Preston and Matt Burton and Penrith champion Nathan Cleary.

Seems very hypocritical to me given everything Phil Gould has said in the media regarding opposition players **cough** Lachlan Galvin **cough**

That's the Bulldogs point- they brought in the "Gus Rule" and now the Bulldogs are saying well enforce it you wanted the stupid thing.

Dean Ritchie is reporting that the NRL is poised to grant the Perth Bears salary cap concessions of up to $500,000 for their first 3 years.

Perth will receive a special marquee player privilege where existing club sponsors can top-up a player’s contract by 20 per cent.

It is understood the proposed concessions include:

• No player receiving more than 20 per cent above his contract value;

• The Bears receiving overall salary cap concessions of up to $500,000;

• The amount of players eligible for the concessions is unlimited, provided the total stays beneath $500,000;

• The proposal is generally aimed at players who are offered $1 million a season; and

• The concessions will last over the club’s first three years.

Someone must have beat some sense into the ****ing idiot. what does this mean for players who have already signed, can they re-negotiate?

If the NRL does this it’s good but which stars at other clubs will suddenly become ‘disgruntled’ and want out?

I'd say they haven't come close to signing a marquee player, so won't effect those already signed.

I think the concession just highlights the lack of available talent across the competition IMO, its a pretty major red flag that the competition is not really in a position to support new team(s) at the top level.

Fair call, hence the new teams will just make an already terrible product this year even worse, especially if they persist with the six agains.
