PRE-GAME Prelim Final - Broncos vs. Roosters

Can't wait for this game, and then live attendance on Saturday night to see who we face in the GF.

easily the biggest game in 6 years for us. too pumped.

I am very confident for this game, just throwing that out there. If we we weather the first 15-20 minutes, I think we run away with it.

I'm a little nervous about this one as i think the Roosters might just pip us with an arsey play that'll break our hearts.

That's been the case quite a bit over the years.

We look like we're going to win, then the opposition comes up with a flukey play and go on to win it.

I actually think this game will be decided well before full time. I don't think it will go down to the final whistle.

i am excited and i definitely think we can win this but i wouldnt say i am going into it with excessive confidence. it does sort of feel like its our time though. i feel like we can rise above the arsey play beating us scenario.

the crowd needs to get us home

SO
FUCKING
PUMPED

So much that I used Comic Sans. Deliberately.

us by 2, won't be decided until the final 10mins..

sounds like our prep could not be better at this stage:

Bennett remarked not one player had been to see the club physiotherapist in the past 48 hours, which he said was 'unheard of'.

"Everyone is really good, we have no injuries, so we are as per program," he said.

"They were good this morning - really good. They are certainly not daunted by the occasion or anything."

I'd say the opposite is more likely.

We're a far more committed 80 minute team than years gone by. Plus our conditioning is top notch, and we've had a week off. If the game hangs in the balance towards the end, I'd be backing either Hunt or Milf to break them open.

If the Roosters win, they'll have to assert their dominance early. They've got the firepower, no doubt, but I'm backing our resolve to withstand it and our class to counter attack even off the back foot.

I do hope we spread the ball a bit and run them ragged on the edges. It's our best chance of getting quality clearing kicks and a following chase. If we can do that, it'll go a long way to limiting their momentum.

Very interesting game.

Roosters love to attack with quick shifts to their centres with early ball, and a forward passing for Pearce pushing up.

Broncos run a lot from dummy half and off-loads, I think the Broncos are more unstructured and have a surprise play in them more than the Roosters. Hunt will hang around the back waiting.

In defence; Broncos offer a passage if you're game enough to take it. They compress up and like the Raiders in the late 80's want you to go there. They scramble well and with smaller forwards want you to see that as a way around them- not up the middle. They stay square and slide and nominate well which makes that area shut down very quickly.

Roosters space well but their left side is the side to attack; Broncos will score there.

Cordner shifted into the middle last week and had his best game for a long while. I liked that move. Broncos' forwards will have to stop their arms getting free with good first contact.

Pearce v Hunt is interesting, on the surface Hunt seems to run more but Pearce averages more runs per game. Hunt does more with his. Hunt has 11 tries Pearce 1, Hunt has 11 line breaks Pearce 4 and tackle breaks is Hunt 45 to Pearce 21.

Kicking is interesting; Maloney does all the Roosters' attacking kicks. Roosters have forced 42 drops outs- Pearce 5 of them. Broncos 26 Hunt 11.

I don't think I've been this nervous for a sporting event in my entire life. I wish I could go into hibernation until 7:30 tomorrow.

NRL finals 2015: Wayne Bennett says Broncos props Sam Thaiday and Adam Blair must stand up to Roosters

BRONCOS coach Wayne Bennett has challenged props Adam Blair and Sam Thaiday to stand up to the Roosters pack tomorrow night and lead Brisbane to their first grand final in nine years.
The Broncos completed their final training run this morning without a hitch, ensuring they will be 1-17 for a blockbusting preliminary final showdown with the Roosters at Suncorp Stadium.
Brisbane’s most recent premiership triumph under Bennett in 2006 was spearheaded by the front-row firepower of Test warhorses Shane Webcke and Petero Civoniceva.

Bennett concedes his current bookends have few parallels to the Webcke-Civoniceva alliance, but he is backing the “Fro Bros” to bring down the minor premiers tomorrow night.
“You are right, they (Blair and Thaiday) are different to Petero and ‘Webby’ but they just keep getting the job done,” he said.

“That’s all you need, you mightn’t always have the best tools but you still have to get the job done.
“Adam and Sam have plenty of tools but they are different and they are doing their best each week.
“We needed a big guy like Josh McGuire (Broncos prop who tore his achilles mid-season) but we’ve done it without him.
“It comes down to the day, whatever challenge has been in front of them, they have stood up and met it.”
The Roosters beat the Broncos 12-10 in their most recent clash in round 24 in Sydney, a bruising encounter that saw Sydney prop Jared Waerea-Hargreaves suffer a season-ending knee injury.
But despite the loss, Bennett rates it as the performance that convinced him his team had premiership-winning qualities.

“That five days in Sydney was the making of our season,” he said.
“Hopefully we get the benefits of that tomorrow night. I know what it meant to them and they came out the other side, they realised what was in front of them but what they could deliver.
“Sometimes you lose a game ... but you win.

“If we stick to what we know and there is only a few points in it with 10 or 15 minutes to go (tomorrow night), I know whose side I want to be on.
“We are definitely an 80-minute team, you only have to see how we finish over other teams late in the game. I just want to be in that position again.”
Bennett, meanwhile, urged all NRL players to take responsibility for the actions following the drug-related mishap involving Souths duo Dylan Walker and Aaron Gray.
Asked if addiction to painkilling drugs is rife in the NRL, Bennett said: “I don’t believe there is, but I don’t know enough about it, I just know the clubs I’ve been at and what I’ve seen.
“To my knowledge, it doesn’t happen here.

“I’m a bit over always blaming the game, I can’t tell you how much the game does for everybody. Are we perfect? No we’re not. Somewhere along the line someone has to take responsibility for their actions and behaviours.
“It can’t be the game every moment of the day, we have drug policies, we have so much governance in our game right now. I don’t believe the game is at fault.
“The people within the game that make poor decisions, they should be accountable and responsible. Don’t keep throwing it back at the game, what’s the game going to do about it. I’ve been in the game since birth and I know what we have today to what we had 5, 10, 15 years ago.
“I’ve been through all that. The game does so much and it’s about time these young men, regardless of what club they’re in, are made more accountable for their actions.”

I'm a little nervous about this one as i think the Roosters might just pip us with an arsey play that'll break our hearts.

I'm really confident but I can't quite work out if it is genuine or based on bias.

I don't want to bring it up but I could almost cop losing to an arsey play, as opposed to a Ashton Sims like debacle on the hooter.....
