2009 is shaping to be an interesting year.
Both Grand Finalists have lost key personal. The Jets have lost 2 guns forwards and their most damaging back while the Magpies have lost excitement machine Laulu-Togata. Souths should agin be propped up by the Raiders but my tips is both teams from the big one in 2008 will fail to fire in 2009.
The NQ teams again look strong, but their fortunes will hinge on the Cowboys staying healthy.
Burleigh and Wynumm have done well out out of the Broncos alliance, with the Gulls in particular picking up under 20 stars Beale, Glenn and Dodds. They also have former Clydie number 7 and Russo's pin up boy, Ben Green, to lead them around the park. They have lost some seasoned forwards and thier best back though.
Interesting to see how Tweed go, with the majority of the Titans 2008 U20 squad lining up for them.
Easts look strong again and have to key buys with Cullen at the back and Talipeau in the halves.
The Mighty Phins have lost a stack experience with the departure of QLD Cup legends Lindsay, Perry and Roberts (700 + games between them) but have picked up a few handy forwards and have some good young players coming through thr ranks. The return of some ex players will also assist. The loss of Hoffman at fullback for the first half of the year will hurt though.
Interesting to see how much support Manly give the Sunny Coast. If it is anything like the Raiders - Souths Logan deal they will be strong, otherwise they will fight out the spoon with Norths who despite have some good young players, look like also rans again
My Tip for the FInal 5
Dolphins
Wynumm
Pride
Cutters
Easts
