Queensland 2014 Line-Ups

Only now and it happened how long ago?

Also it wasn't swept under the carpet but Uncle Wayne would have been keen for that to happen as usual

A week ago. Would you like to be notified every time a player is late?

It was dealt with last weekend which is how it should be done.

In my opinion if a player breaks the law the public have aright to know. If he breaks team protocol. Drinking or otherwise. Who the **** cares.

TBH ......I'm more concerned with a player breaking team protocol.

It shows me where that players mindset is at when it concerns the team and playing rugby league

which is all I really care about.

A case in point- Willie Mason failed a breath test this morning.
Knights put out a short one para media release and the story is dealt with.

Except this isn't a team- no sponsors, no fans, no CEO, no team mates only accountability is to the QAS and QRL.

Fact was he didn't break the law, he broke camp rules- come to training tomorrow. He was on his own not being on time. In the scheme of things very minor issue that was delt with at the time by the stakeholders in the camp.

He's hurt himself because it will have far reaching affects on him. It has happened before Esi did it a few years ago- no press conference then either.

Everything is linked to Origin, that's the pathways the QRL has set up since 2001.
Exactly, my point was if they issued a one para statement last week saying he was admonished or something, it would have been all over. They chose to try and fly under the radar and it failed so now have to deal with it. I'm no media guru but I reckon I could draft a standard media release in about thirty seconds.

Gagai's banishment from the Maroons mirrors that of former Parramatta centre Esi Tonga, who was booted from the Queensland Origin program two years ago for being a no-show at the Emerging squad's final training run. Tonga has not been sighted in the Queensland system since.

"He missed the Sunday morning training session, but it wasn't an alcohol-related problem. It was just a lack of discipline," Meninga said.
"This is behaviour that we just can't condone, but it does give us an idea about where their minds are at in regards to their ambitions for playing Origin. We put these guys into camp not just so they can learn about the Origin program, but also so we can learn about them, and the way that they handle the profile and scrutiny that comes with being an Origin player. Behaviour is a big part of that.''
Asked whether the incident had killed Gagai's Origin career before it started, Meninga said: "Not for good, no.
"But certainly paying your penance is a part of the culture that we have developed.''

Yeah so much for swept under the carpet and not punished. That's word for word what I told you happened.

Very glad to see QLD come down hard on Gagai, as glad as I am that we gave him the boot.

Seriously how many wake up calls does he need? Maybe if after we booted him he was allowed to sweat for a while instead of uncle wayne sweeping in he might have gotten it through his head.
