Queensland AFL State?

AFL ceo claimed last year that qld was an afl state, some bald guy on fox claimed a few weeks ago that afl would take over Sydney in his lifetime. It absolutely is arrogance. Victorians believe this nonsense.
NRL360 barely goes a week without going on about how much better NRL is than AFL completely unprompted. The NRL takes an origin game to Melbourne this year and puts up billboards telling Melbourne to come and watch the real football or something to that effect. I love both games (prior to Vlandys for the NRL) but claiming AFL supporters are some kind of arrogant zealants while ignoring all the same shit (arguably worse) from the NRL is just stupid.

Membership numbers are a stupid stat to compare NRL vs AFL support. My kids did a 10 week Auskick program through their school, and where automatically made GWS members for the year (even though they have never been, or likely will go to an AFL game).

Viewership is pretty even between the two codes, but finals viewership probably suffered this year for the NRL given the most followed clubs didn't make it (Broncos, Souths, parra, etc.).

Qld or even NSW becoming AFL states aligns with Victoria becoming a NRL state.
Now that is some Membership padding.

Both sports media wise will take anything that looks good when it comes into getting good figures for something on the otherside of the barassi line, but in reality QLD and NSW are not even remotely going to budge on following AFL over NRL and the same applies to the other side.

Like the situation that happened this year at the SFS vs the SCG since both are next to each other, if you just look at it without context it looks like AFL is somehow winning the battle of Sydney but in reality you have a team in Sharks who are statistically the least followed team in NRL being moved away from their home stadium to Moore park a decent distance away playing a team based in a small city relative wise in Townsville based over 2000 kilometres away, it was a perfect scenario to get a tiny crowd for a finals game, Roosters literally get bigger crowds at SFS for regular home games during the season.

If anything it's just a solid argument on Sharks not having the support worthy of being a NRL team, since they have a tiny fan base in a already saturated city for NRL clubs.
