It boggles my mind how people can pick Newcastle as wooden spooners when you look at their squad compared to Cronulla or Parramatta.

Aye. Despite their problems off field, they actually have a pretty underrated roster IMO. A couple of decent youngsters coming through as well.

If Beau Henry lives up to anywhere near his hype and takes pressure off Mullen and Gidley I wouldn't be surprised if they make the 8. The only area of concern is lightness of props but both Costigan and Houston will play plenty of prop this year to help out and that will certainly help any weakness there.

I reckon a mccrone/orford Raiders might win just enough to allow the campese/orford pait to stear them into the finals. Without injuries, they will be a force to be reckoned with!

The one thing the Raiders lacked last year was organisation, which is exactly what Orford brings to them.

They have a dominant forward park, and explosive backline, and they now have an organisational halfback. FWIW - I think McCrone is a much better 5/8 than he is a halfback. Raiders will go alright until Campo returns.
