PLAYER Reece Walsh

Just make sure you take a bucket in case he needs to throw up after an exhausting handshake. Otherwise give him a high five from my son and I.
I will do that. I will wait for the team list to be announced then I will take the bucket 🪣

I have to say, he's got me concerned. That wasn't just one poor game off the back of a well beaten side. Walsh stood out like a sore thumb in how bad he was, and this coming off a not so impressive R1 game in a strong victory as well.

What is going on with him? His head looks a million miles away from where it should be.

That was about as good as the Raiders could possibly play.
That was about as bad as Reece Walsh could possibly play.

Canberra were absolutely willing to lie in the ruck when it suited them.

He says all the right stuff, the stuff that people want to hear but he needs to grow up a bit and become a team player.
The flashy stuff is fine when it works but he's not actively looking to do something different when the going gets tough.
Like get in a forwards ear and urge him to get a quick ptb then get into half and take off or sniff around the middle looking for an offload .
He just keeps hanging out the back of shape hoping the D panics.
2023 he was continually hanging around the middle , not last year or so far this year.
The big dives and carry on when something works is a wankfest we can do without.
Earn your money Reece.

He has to find other ways to get himself involved in the game... he can't just be playing out the back of shape all the time, because teams will only have to defend that one thing.

Needs to be sniffing around the ruck, get on short sides, compete on bombs and kicks, etc.

If he sees a quick ptb get into the ruck and take a hitup

If he's not involved you get what we got tonight... erratic hollywood ball where he's trying to make something happen on every single touch.

Last week they got him some early ball and he was run first... there was a lot of kicking towards him so he was taking kick returns.

Tonight he barely touched the ball in the first half... needs to get himself some early touches and feel like he's in the game

I fucking hope Madge adjusts how he uses Walsh, because he was basically detached from most attacking plays which hasn't been the case basically since he came here.

He was sitting in the middle for most of the game like a stooge, granted once he got more ball it all went to shit but I see coaching decisions here for what happened for his lack of involvement in most of that game.

Not to mention in the Halves it was basically all tilted towards Reyno with little Hunt involvement, if you got two 7s you need to share the load more.

I don't think there's much to be concerned with yet.

Yeah, he was poor tonight ... quiet then several costly mistakes. he was also playing behind a badly beaten pack tonight.

last week, it was more trying to fine tune his style to a new coach. he's trying to rein in the mistakes while still maintain that speed and explosiveness he possesses.

He's also trying to form a new combination with Hunt. Walsh and Mam knew each others games like the back of their hands. but Walsh needs to learn Hunt's game. not to mention that Hunt is a more dominant play maker than Mam, so is likely getting involved when it would have been Walsh in the past.

We just need to see a positive reaction from him. He's the star of the show here, and on the salary he's on he needs to step up to the plate.

I'm a bit concerned about him, he hasnt really been the same since he got smashed in the Origin games. I think its effected him.

I'd like to see him work more on what he isnt good at now like his defence. I think thats where he gets his confidence and swagger back, by getting the little things right.

idk about that, he had some good games after that(like the Cowboys one especially) but he got reinjured so there wasn't many.
