PLAYER Reece Walsh

Dylan Edwards is a poor example given the period they are in there career. I few years into Dylan Edwards career you probably couldn't pay a club to take him. I had more chance of catching a high ball than him
I think he comes out and kills the Cows.

I just wish he could be more consistent, we all do. You look at someone like Dylan Edwards, if he's not getting involved in tries you will find him running for 200 metres a game. If Walsh isn't setting up tries or beating defenders with his speed, he's not really a factor. Other fullbacks make contributions even when it's not particularly their night.

I think we are looking at the Rugby League version of Glenn Maxwell. If it's his night, look out. If it's not, tuck the bat under the arm and better luck next time.

Walsh 76 games, 35 tries, 18 forced drop outs, 57 try assists, 58 line breaks.
Has won 34 times in his 5 year career.

Edwards, 153 games, 53 tries, 6 forced drop outs, 40 try assists, 61 line breaks.
Has lost 34 times in his 10 year career.

Considering Edwards has won the comp every year since Reece made his debut, Walshy's doing alright.
I doubt he'll ever be a 200m a game player but that's why you build a team around him to make up for those loses.
He also would look a far better defensive player if he was defending behind that Panthers line.

Yep when Crichton extended the first time, it was being reported they saw him as the future fullback and he was getting paid on that potential.

They played him there a few times and he was woeful, which had them go back to Edwards.

You maybe onto something...
Right on cue last night!!!

And in the biggest hint yet that he is could be considering a change, Queensland legend Slater claimed Ponga produced one of the best games he has seen in recent years. Speaking on Channel Nine's The Billy Slater Podcast, the Queensland coach lauded Ponga for his influence across the team.

Slater admitted Ponga is getting more and more involved in play with every game and suggested there is no fullback more influential to their team. "He was so impressive. 10/10 to be honest," Slater said on Monday having watched Ponga live in Newcastle last Thursday.

"He is so influential in that football team and it's not a one-off. This was all of last year and the year before, he is so influential in his football side. They have won their opening two games of the season and it's off the back of Kalyn.

"Kalyn is the spark, he's the creator, he's doing a lot more kicking at the moment and he's controlling the attack. He's just got so much freedom and they are playing a really good style that gets him the football in good situations."

I should get a job in Media...

4 different coaches, probably all wanted him to do certain things their way and the team doing different things. Then there's Billy to throw in the mix too.
There was something last year that came out about Walters and Slater wanting him doing different things.

Catching the ball .
Not throwing passes on the ground .
Not kicking the ball dead from general play . Not kicking the kick off dead and actually attempting to tackle and or clean up kicks .

These are all basic fundamentals . It not about who is coaching him .

None of the excuses for his attack are valid for defence though. A few times against the Raiders it looked like defence was put in the too hard basket, that's where the worry is.
