PLAYER Reece Walsh

Thought Willie was pretty good on Levels this week... spoke a lot about how teams are focussing on him and he will need to learn.

Found it interesting as it would be coming from his perspective of being a forward having to defend against a Reece Walsh and the mindset they would be in.

I had no idea just how much I'd come to admire Willie Mason from a media/pundit perspective these days.

Thoroughly surprised and impressed. He's generally insightful, balanced and genuinely worth tuning in to.

Am I the only one who from a Queensland fan perspective actually hopes that they select Ponga, even before Walsh had a poor start to this season?

It's a little hard to quantify or even articulate in a concerte sense, but I just have this feeling that Ponga just fits that arena better whan Walsh does, at least for now. I suspect deep down that Ponga is the least preferred option for the Blues if they were choosing an opponent too.

I fully accept that there will be stats and opinions that will say I'm wrong, and I'm more than receptive to those and willing to be proven wrong, but for now it's just a gut feeling I can't really shake.

Yeah I find the levels podcast to be pretty good.

I always like to hear the player's perspective and in this podcast environment they're able to speak pretty freely.

Unlike players that come on 360, which is the same boring generic cliches.

Willie provides good insight because he's working with the dogs, so he's providing insight on current trends, but he was also a great player in his own right so he talks about his own experiences.

Horo talks a little bit, but he's a bit more like a host so not always super insightful.

A good host is under rated. Take what 360 has become since Anasta got the host job.
Total fail for facilitating conversation and moving on when it's been done to death not to mention allowing them to talk over each other while trying to put his thoughts forward at the same time.
Ikin was very good at it.

Anasta is seriously out of his depth and he played the game FFS! As a host he'd make a good pope. The next original thought he gets will be his first and he still won't realise it. If brains were dynamite he wouldn't have a enough to ruffle his hair. He seems to be breaking that mouth in for a whale and everybody has the right to be dumb, but he seriously abuses the privilege. I wish Brown would have skipped the slap and went straight for the knuckles.

Apart from that he's a nice guy.

I hope he gets called in to the extended squad so he can spend more time with Billy, but not actually play.

I think with how Walsh played last year and his stop start to the year from injuries, I would say I wanted him well away from origin this year.

I don't think Billy should've selected him last year, given he was coming back from the Taylan May shot, but I can't recall what was happening with Ponga at that period... to then keep picking him after game 1 and the hysteria from the Sydney circle jerk, was just lining him up to fail.

He also only played 1 game for broncos between the titans game in Rd 12 and then knights in Rd 20, so he was picking a guy that was out of form and was clearly being targeted by the opposition... in the hardest league games you can play and the only games he was playing were origin games.

I'd like him to put a cork in his ball playing for the moment tbh. I'm sure it's been mentioned in here before but just keep sniffing around the forwards for an offload and burn mofos with his speed. Plus that puts defences in 2 minds seeing him lurking out the back.
Considering our current halves combination, it is crazy to press the issue on ball-playing

I guess the thing though is that we are winning despite him being pretty poor. You don't want to be peaking early I guess, so if we can scrap wins while being off, it should help in the back end of the season when hopefully everyone is firing.
We’ve played 3 non finals teams… and got the dolphins coming up…

Can’t watch 360 anymore. It’s a complete farce. No respect at all for these so called ‘journalists’ and media personalities.

Much prefer the thoughts and opinions expressed by BHQ members to be honest.
Never could watch it in the first place, if I do at all only tid bits on youtube if they say something really stupid.
