PRE-GAME [Round 1, 2025] Broncos vs Roosters

Hopefully the thing ***** off a bit further to the south over the next few days, but the BOM's favoured modelling projects a cat 2 land crossing in the north of Brisbane on Thursday. The heaviest wind and rain tends to be to the south of the eye.

Too early to call it, but it's on the cards.

Yeah the Lions are playing the same night and there is already a lot of talk of that being postponed too because not only is the game a question mark, the visiting teams also have to be able to have a window to fly out.

Been wondering what you were worried about lol. Game is at Allianz in Sydney.

The game is in Sydney so weather shouldn't be a factor but I actually think the rain will favour us..

We had an emphasis on defence and ball control in the trials. We are also really talking up focusing on "resilience". And then compared to the roosters we have a strong middle, and a far, far superior kicking game with experienced halves. I know it contradicts last year but we are probably a far better equipped team for the wet than just about any other side this year. Just protect cobbo on the kicks as he is prone to a drop when fielding bombs.

Reminder: we were overwhelming favourites against the Roosters in Round One last season too.

I still thinking we're going big in this one.

It’ll just be a bit of rain and wind, no different to when Cyclone Seth ended up over Brisbane. It’s only an issue when it slows down and sits on a city with all that water.

Seems to be moving pretty quick so get your aircon ready and be prepared for the searing humidity the week after

Completely agree. We don't deserve to be as big a favourite as we are. Could be another ambush if we aren't ready
We should definitely be favourites... it's all up to the players to turn up, which has been their biggest problem for years now.

They turn up to games expecting to win and don't put the effort in to actually win it.

Last year I doubt anyone saw Teddy or Crichton Reincarnated coming. Won’t be the same this year

Brisbane by 20
We had 15 errors that game... killed any chance of getting a win... along with Piakura HIA in the first 5mins and moving Patty to the edge.

Still only lost by 10 in the end... rorters just played super conservative and waited for our mistakes to give them field position.

They had the same game plan in the reverse fixture at Suncorp... and both times we played into their hands.

This game between between Penrith and Cronulla, is it highlighting again the need for a utility back on the bench? Could we get Paix to play 70 odd and get say Hetherington to pinch hit for 10 and carry someone in the 14 jersey who isn't a specialist dummy half / hooker?

I think this could be Mam's way back in too after his suspension. Or is it a waste of a spot and you just hope you don't lose a back?

for us, it would be a waste of a spot IMO.

if we lose an outside back, either Jetski or Riki can do a job for us. with the exception of Staggs, all of our backs are capable of switching between wing and centre. Cobbo and Arthars can handle fullback in a pinch if we lose Walsh as well.

beside I don't think it is smart at this stage to have Paix playing 70 mins.
