POST GAME [Round 1, 2025] Broncos vs Roosters

That wasn't a win that was a STATEMENT!

Payne Haas was always one of the best props in the world ... but he's tapped into the form that Madge brought out in him during last years origin series ... this version of Haas is unstoppable, watch out NRL.

I know Paix said nothing has changed with him ... but that's simply not true. the form he showed in the trials and again tonight is literally the best he has ever played, by a very big margin.

The Carrigan, Haas, Hethrington starting middle is so fucking good. just puts us on the front foot straight away.

Reynolds and Hunt may be old ... but they controlled the game so well and didn't over play their hands. they're both footy players rather than just simply athlete's.

Some of that play reminded me of 2015 when we were on fire scoring tries from all over the park. The support play was fantastic. This team will be close to the best attacking team in the comp if all stay fit.

Hass and Carrigan set the ultimate platfor. Hethro was great, Paix was great. Hunt, Adam and Walsh all great.

You could go through the whole team and no one had a bad game. Got to feel for Piakura, got two minutes haha

Only issue was a couple of soft tries. So there is still a bit of work to be done.

P.S. that field was atrocious and not up to NRL standard.

P.P.S the bunker was even more atrocious ... but that was to be expected. can't wait to see how the NRL's spin doctor justifies this decision to back the bunker on Monday
Yeah as soon as that chunk of field went flying after Walsh took a run prior to the game, it was clear indication of it.

Benny looks so good in a Broncos jersey. He should never have left. The combo with Reynolds. Lord. This is going to be a fun year.

Confirmed Madge hired to get 30 odd weeks of Origin Haas. The middle rotation was great, everyone had an impact. Hethrington looking like the 2023 version, Willison looking like Haas 2.0, Jensen as solid as always, Carrigan just being himself. Xavier needs to cut the dumb penalty from his game though.

I though both edge forwards played really well, a lot more impact than we've seen from our second row for a few years. Riki's kick chase want quite on point, though. And we won't speak of Piaks.

Paid was great. He really does make it difficult to defend Kev's selections last year, though I thought Billy had a good game too. Not sure about the rotation, might need some experimentation. But if Cory keeps up this form he's going to make it a hard call when Mam is back - Ezra might find himself on the bench in place of Billy. Cory does have a loose pass in him. I think it was the lead up to Gos's try he threw one to Kobe around his knees, and then rocketed another into Pat at short range. But some really nice flashes otherwise.

I thought both centres were good, but it's lean towards keeping Mariner over Shibisaki after that game. Just too much strike to leave out, and great recovery speed to account for any defensive deficiencies. Cobbo and Arthars class on the wings. And Reece doing Reece things like bombing tries and then making up for it. We need him to be ruthless though, can't leave opportunities on the fire against the lines of Melbourne and Penrith.

It's great to have footy back, and to start with a win and such optimism.
