Name another squad in the nrl that has 5 hooker options in their squad (not counting bukowski who isnt ready but is a startong qld cup kooer as our SIXTH option)... I'll wait...

Mozer will hopefully be back soon. Mam is only out for 9 rounds freeing up hunt. Bukowski is starting in qld cup round 1. By round 10 we will have SIX available.. SIX FFS. We wouldn't be selling smoothy by tomorrow. We can ride out 5 or 6 rounds with 5 options ffs.
We have 5 spots in the outside backs to fill. Leota was terrible last year from all reports, hoeter looked a yard off the pace last year. We have to hope we have less than 2 injuries in the entire outside backs ALL YEAR, and content with origin with walsh and cobbo leaving (2 already gone then) vs 2-3 injuries in our hookers for a few weeks before it goes upto FOUR injuries?

What short sightedness...

Bukowski has never started in his two Cup games and wasn't named starting round one and can't play NRL either.

Mozer is out indefinitely .
So now we are down to 3 like I said . One of the two in the 17 gets injured you need a new #6 or you elevate the kid who hasn`t played Q cup yet .

I was talking about hoeter in the trials, my error.
Bukowski doesn't need to play 1st grade anytime soon. At this moment, with injuries, he is STILL 4th choice.
If he isn't ready and we get TWO MORE INJURIES with mozer not returning (far, far, far, far less likely than 1 more injury in the backline) in the next few weeks than you could STILL play madden on the bench and get him to cover hunt for 20 mins.
Hoeter and leota are our ONLY outside backs left.

Let me show you some mathematics....

There are 5 backline positions right?
We have 2 reserves at the moment.

There is 1, and I will even let you have the 2nd, so 2 hooking spots in the top 17.

At this very moment we have 2 hooker reserves... ummmmm.... and before you say bukowski isn't ready, leota, a player who seems at close to or near the same level in a position that is FAR more likely to exploited in defence by opposition than a 20 minute hooker cameo, is our 2nd backline reserve.


Again, explain the maths to me... and tell me another nrl team who has FIVE hookers in their squad... I'm still waiting

If Mozer stays injured, we lose another hooker to injury, we let Smoothy go AND this all goes down in the next 8 weeks, then sure, we'll have to play Rogers or Madden for a few weeks. Oh no.

Sorry very late to the party. What a game to start off the Mr Maguire era. Our forward pack was just fantastic to watch and made me reminisce of our best squads. Some of the tries.........well they were special as in a team that has discovered its secret formula. Everything looked as cohesive as the first game of the season can.

Even though I know the forward pack lay the ground work I now have a man crush on Reynolds and Hunt, man I enjoyed the show they put on. I can't even imagine what they will do with more time.

The kicking game. I think this is going to be a thing of beauty going forward. Opposing teams have to deal with Reynolds, Hunt and just when they're not ready Walsh jumps in and smashes it. Good luck dealing with that trifecta.

All in all its just bliss to do that to the Roosters. To not take the foot off the throat was just what I needed after last season. Also that last try from the roosters, really Bunker??

If I had to pick anything that concerned me. I thought we gave away metre's too easily. There were a number of times I thought the chooks marched up the other end quite easily but really who gives a $##& at this point. 50 points!

we were better at meeting the attacking line head on, but did allow un-necessary metres - this will be a work in progress, but more aggression in defence will help

Excitingly though, while not perfect, we did shut down offloads far better than in the past. Still a lot of room to improve but after years of screaming shut the ball down, I'll take it.

Possibly in defence and by that I mean easy metres not missed tackles. I can't really argue with that in the context of the game but as soon as we got the ball in hand, did somebody say.....

but then again we kept them to 8 points so.....
