Possibly in defence and by that I mean easy metres not missed tackles. I can't really argue with that in the context of the game but as soon as we got the ball in hand, did somebody say.....

but then again we kept them to 8 points so.....

I think the score was 40-4 when they scored the second try... and that second try was pretty soft.

They let them get quick ptbs through the middle and then conceded off a quick ptb allowing a half to crash ball off the ruck to go through untouched.

In a more desperate situation you'd hope someone would be throwing a shoulder through Sandon running a line like that, but maybe up by 40 and conceding quick ptbs you think I'll maybe hold back because game is in hand and I'm ready to be playing next week.

I think Madge won't be happy with any of the tries conceded, but that one in particular had failings across a number of fronts.

Conceding the quick ptbs to let them get in that position, a quick ptb on the try, Riki with his back to the ball (Piaks did the same last year albeit on the first try of the game), crash ball going untouched... but on top of all those things was no one giving away a six again to purposefully slow down the ruck when they should've realised what was going on.

If there is a good point out of it, when Smith scored, Riki seemed to appear to chastise himself for missing his assignment there and being caught in the ruck. Hopefully he learns from that because otherwise, he was pretty good.

He is looking for metres rather than a quick PTB .
Saw it from the trials . Less shimmy , more striding into the defence . His short steps looking to get elbows and knees is not really very effective . Just run hard . Said Madge .

Rikki should have used some game smarts, get in the way, give away the penalty whatever- just standing there with your hands in the air isn't it.

Really if you have time to stand there with your hands in the air, you have time to get back or at least get some of the way back and disrupt the play.

He ended up behind the PTB .
Interfering from there would probably be 10 in the bin .

Re the two markers . You would need to ask the Captn Coach . He was in behind Billy and let Smith run on by him . Not a good read .
