Tomorrow.

Wynnum- Anderson, Verhoeven (Cup Debut), Bukowski, Hunt and Te Kura.
Souths- Duffy (Game 50), Perham, Arthars.

Verhoeven given permission to play Cup before he's 18- QRL rule he turns 18 this year and if mum and dad say yes you can.
I'm guessing Mozer will be playing for Burleigh as well?

Based off the performance of Paix tonight and also in the WCC, Mozer might only need to get through the game and maybe lay on a try assist and he's in.

There were way too many moving pieces tonight and I think Madge tried to be too cute with the new interchange rules.

Bhunt starting 6, then into 9, then ended the game in lock
Mam on the bench and then into 6
Paix starting at 9, to the bench, then came back on to finish the game (why!!!)
Willison on the bench, then into the middle, then off for a HIA, back on at prop and then pushed out to second row
Patty's second stint was at prop because Bhunt went into lock, but it didn't seem like the timing was there for Bhunt at lock and some passes went astray
Talty had a second stint before the 17th player was used

There was just constant shuffling of 16 players so Madge could hold back using that last interchange spot as long as possible.

We lost Willison for a HIA like 1min after Haas went off... so Haas proceeded to come straight back on and I think played out the game from there?

In a normal situation with only 17, I daresay Tawha just comes on and plays in the middle, but he didn't want to commit to that 17th player that early.

When Willison switched out to backrow he was completely spent... but again Madge didn't want to bring on the natural left edge player in Tawha. Ezra puts the ball on Willison's chest with the line wide open and he drops it cold. I think if Tawha is in that spot instead of a gassed Willison he scores that try with ease.

Willison went off the field not long after that and then Madge finally committed to using Tawha.

It was just way too much shuffling... this is barely a team that can stick to one game plan, but instead had to adjust to like 4 different positional changes across the 1,6,7,9 and 13.

Starting Ezra off the bench was just not it... Paix and Bhunt were awful in their roles whilst Ezra was on the bench... he can't start that way again next week.

I'm guessing Mozer will be playing for Burleigh as well?

Based off the performance of Paix tonight and also in the WCC, Mozer might only need to get through the game and maybe lay on a try assist and he's in.
Hopefully Mozer can stay healthy and gets a run in the team at some stage. I can't see Madge dropping Paix unless he has a shocker like tonight in the next 2-3 games. If he does get dropped I would imagine BHunt would start at hooker with Mozer coming on at around the 30-40 minute mark.

World Club Challenge needs to be scrapped or the schedule changed to after the GF.

It disrupted our pre-season.
Or even play it in Australia every alternating year. It is a pretty stupid concept. Everybody knows our teams are better but year after year after year the England team wins it. I honestly didn’t even bother getting up to watch it.

They were all talking like Penrith were absolutely amazing, im not so sure they were? 2 tries direct from dropped Bombs, then a try from Staggs rushing up trying to put a big shot on leaving a massive over lap then an interception.

We left about 4 out there, We hear all this talk about Patty being the next captain but man I feel like he is responsible for so many of the 6 agains that put us in trouble.

Hunt and Renyo were poor tonight, service from Dummy half was poor, over all just poor, will be very interesting to see how they bounce back!

Jeez I wish the off season could’ve gone on for at least another week.

That was just mind blowing the amount of errors we made.

I’ve seen more ball control in my favourite ripped jocks.

Our ability to defuse a simple bomb was extraordinary it was like we’d never ever practiced for such a scenario.

****ing logo!

I of course have zero evidence that the WCC had any negative impact on our Round 1 performance, but you do have to wonder.

I said it in the WCC thread when it was announced, the ONLY question that needs to be asked is 'does this help us win the 2026 premiership, or hurt it?'

If there's even a hint of a possibility that it hurts our chances of winning the big one, you don't do it. It really is that simple.

That was easily the worst performance I have seen this side make. Gotta be worse than the spoon years. The errors and inept shown was crazy.
