POST GAME [Round 10, 2024] Broncos vs Eels

Gojetski made 1 shit error (and 1 justified) but I didn't understand the hammering he got in the match thread. Thought he showed why we bought him. Good defence (that edge was actually improved with him there), ran hard and was 1st on all the kick chasers when he was on the field. He isn't a world beater but will definitely do a job in the 17, although he certainly hasn't written Oates or even hunt out of that spot with that performance...

1 bad drop and 1 six again that was absolutely brain dead. But he's learning and hopefully will come good. No improvement on Hunt yet though. Butchered a play where we may have scored and his drop near our 20m led to an almost try, saved by him taking the most epic dive due to making a read on a lead runner and getting a little bit lucky.

We’ve been spoiled with superstars. We just expect everyone to be at that level. He’ll do a job for us and that’s what we need. Some solid role players.

Fair. Just need to have minimal errors in them. Not expecting game breaking, just toil in defense and hang onto the pill.

He's a little under the radar right now - the media isn't swooning over him constantly yet. Now's the time to lock that shit down though. Donuts, make sure to throw in a fresh Racoon every game he puts in over a 100m off the bench.

Thing is the people in the game will be sitting up and taking notice. The media tend to go for the higher profile players and ignore blokes like him. Haas gets all the plaudits and people raving about him because he is a freak athlete, but we have players like Carrigan who is probably more important and equally as good but they go under the radar. I think Willison is in that bracket as well.

Haas will win you a game. Patty will win you a prem.

I think we played within ourselves as a result of last week's brain explosions. Our defence against weight of possession was great and if we knuckle down in that tough footy department it will do us wonders.
Rogers had a solid game, happy with him and his ability to just kick the fricken thing without getting over whelmed. Left the flashy stuff for the flashy guys
It's the type if game model I'd like to see over the next couple of months, solid d, opportunistic footy where we get there comfortably in the end.
Good game, go broncs

Yeah he wasn't bad until the error and the penalty. He will be a good buy. He's a great player

Thank god we won, after 15 minutes I was stressed which was not helped by the ch9 commentary and the ref. I thought we defended well when we had to and the ref kept our play of the ball at snail pace most of the night. As for the commentary I’m assuming all the Parra fans must partying hard into the night after such an amazing and dominating performance over us. Idiots the lot of them.

These are the sorts of wins that are like gold. We were absolutely terrible for 60 minutes and pretty good for 20, still felt like we were going to win it most of the night. These are good signs, we have a heck of a lot of improvement in us.

our challenge the bunker says the Parra player is trying to lock the ball up but not necessarily trying to strip it. So he admits it was not a loose carry by Cobbo and the fact he says he is trying to lock the ball up means by definition that he is playing at the ball so it must then be a strip. How Frikkin stupid is that call?

The one Sutton pinged Staggs for “planting the ball” too. he got to his feet and this was done on a few occasions by eels players but he thought it was ok then.

We played a gritty grind out game tonight in the cold and wet against a really committed side who had a full two weeks to get psyched for this game.

Our defence just kept turning up and I think eels would have beaten most other teams in the comp with that game tonight.

We will take so much out of that game going into magic round. I hope Kevvie rests Paddy and brings in the BTK and Mozer combo next week. Would love to see their signature pushover try.

Brisbane lost every major stats category but never lost their composure. The key players made better decisions with the football and it eventually paid dividends when it mattered.

Plenty of positives to take out of tonight, long may it continue.

We’re the Broncos
The mighty Broncos
We keep fighting every second till the end

We’re the Broncos
The greatest team on earth
We’re the heart of all Queensland

Never stop
We never rest
On and on we beat the best
Never giving up we bleed maroon and gold

For the league
We risk it all
Miles above
We’re standing tall
We’re the finest and the greatest club of all

We’re the Broncos
The mighty Broncos
We keep fighting every second till the end

We breathe in our soul
The best game of all
We are the Broncos of Queensland

Hey!!

Well

The Broncos are our name
Through the north we won our fame
Being handy with the ball
And we drove the Blues insane
And we put on a move
And we scored a certain try
So sing out our alibi

You didn’t know we had to beat ya
And we’re so sorry my friends
You didn’t know we had to beat ya

We will never do it again

Bullshit

Lucky eels bombed 4 try's and handed us 2 on a platter. Plus missing Moses and Gutherson
The consensus pre game was to put the flashy stuff away. Thought we did that.
Eels were desperate and passing like mad men...Our defence handled it. Hetherington and Willison contact in the middle was immense off the bench. Riki and Mam kick chase great. We won and won easily. Forced errors from Parra through defensive pressure so not luck. Really good win. Shows we can tough it out. Good effort in my view

I might be crazy but I thought Gozieski's knock on came off the back of a shoulder to the head. I thought he looked like copped a head knock from his body language. Thought it warranted a look-in from the HIA doc given how they took Mam off the field last week. Ugh. I might've been seeing things anyway
