I'm not sure what the surgery entails, but it sounds like the worst part of the injury would've been if it was left too long and the pressure caused nerve damage... but hopefully they got to it early enough to release the pressure.

The injury length could just be about the time it takes for the body to recover from the surgery i.e. if they had to cut into the muscle?... but I have no idea how long it takes for the muscle to recover if they've had to cut into it.

It's a crazy injury that's for sure. Knowing that they can't put a time line on it makes me expect the worse. Hopefully we can get him back in a couple of months ago least.

Losing our 2 starting wingers in the same game to long term injuries is brutal.
 
3-5 weeks best case scenario. Depending on underlying damage, could be season ending. Whatever the case, thankfully he is ok and intact.

With him and Jensen this year, it really puts everything in perspective. Just happy both guys are still alive and healthy.

It's sounds like they can't put the timeline on it, because of swelling... that might be just to check that nerve damage didn't occur before the surgery.

100% right. That’s all that matters. It really shows how quick life could’ve changed for him. Im sure he’ll be back to footy if not this season, then next season but as long as he has his health that’s all that matters in the end.

I think under Foz they’re just playing a very good brand of footy. Brooky is a hard place to go when they aren’t going great let alone when they’re flying like they currently are. We know that they will get every single call and we will get nothing from the refs. I think the last few weeks have drained our boys, they have had to dig extremely deep with the injuries we have had and everything else that’s gone against us.
You are right however RE what it can take out of you when you play the riff, so hopefully you’re on the money. I just think we are getting tested like never before with our depth and the new rules etc.

Interesting considering NRL Physio was pretty adamant that was a long term injury based on what he saw.

To not even be a week would be fking amazing.

I bet half these blokes are playing injured right now given how low on troops we are.

To be fair though, NRL Physio doesn't do any physical examinations so what he says isn't always completely accurate.

It wouldn't be the first time he's been wrong.

Do yourselves a favour and don’t research the injury or the surgery.
 
At what point can we start getting dispensation for long-term injuries? Or is that only when a player is ruled out of the entire year?
