POST GAME [Round 10, 2026] - Broncos vs Sea Eagles

I don't disagree that without injuries we would be sitting higher. I can only keep saying what i have said before, is that i don't think Mam consistently contributes enough for the money he is being paid and its preventing us from buying someone else. Boyd i don't believe is knee Jerk, but you are intitled to your opinion. I was asked early on who i would replace Mam with and after looking at who is off contract at the end of this year. I thought he was a good option seeing as he was and still is playing really well (yes even at halfback). He has a great kicking game which Mam doesnt and we will need that next year with Ren retiring. I would have liked to say someone like Cleary or Munster but sadly they are not off contract.
I don’t see the 750k he apparently on a year as crippling our cap,Metcalf would be a better option if the club were looking that way but like I said it would be a knee jerk reaction to move on a 23 year old half who has a grand final ring for either a 25 year old 7 who has hit some form or a 27 year old 6 who thinks he is a 7 that is on a reported 1 million a year, think we are in a pretty good position with mam at 750k or there bouts until the end of 2029

The prices of halves are only going to keep going up, especially the promising ones.

There is also not many young 6's killing it right now, and you'd have to pay more or the same as what we are paying Ezra anyways.

Even someone like Riff, Blaize is their weakest backline/spine player by a distance, as there just isn't a huge amount of elite ones going around.

Mam is a player that thrives in chaos and with room to move. Our backs last week got belted and our forwards are too decimated to do anything other than tackle. This really limits what Mam can do and you know what, most halves struggle behind teams getting belted in yardage.

Manly doubled our metres last week and this is not abnormal since losing Haas, Piakura and Jensen, so he is not getting the time and space he needs to be electric. But the Dogs game showed how good he is when we get an even shake of the yardage / possession.

I want Mam back in at full strength but we need big boots while we can't make metres - this is why I would drop him until the cavalry returns - purely to get Duffy and Reynolds' boots in.
Sounds to me like he has a future as a bench player then. Bring him on when the forwards are tired to do some running work.

"Mam is so bad now", really? We'll see how he goes when we get our troops back. So far, he's shown none of the signs that Milford showed. He has a great attitude & is hungry to learn and improve where he needs to.
I'm all for Milford slander but what I won't allow is people coming on here and saying Anthony Milford wasn't hungry!

He also saved us in the titans game after Walsh went off.

I think it's the presence of Walsh that affects him.

He has to play as a cog in the backline to get the ball to Walsh, whereas when he's not there he has to take on far more ownership and he typically does.
Having Walsh outside him should make his job a thousand times easier.

Not sure where to put this but metcalfe could get to the dragons by round 12... you guessed it, right before the broncos game lol

the reporting is that Metcalf is not interested in moving this year. Hell, he'd be stupid to. The Dragons are all but guaranteed the spoon and the Warriors are a possible top 4 team.

Yep agreed. Also, it isnt as if he has suddenly plummeted down the pecking order never to be used again. 1 injury to either half and he is playing finals football at the end of the year.
