POST GAME [Round 11, 2026] - Broncos vs Warriors

Well just got home from my first Magic Round weekend and I'm buggered, overall I enjoyed the three days, the atmosphere created by the fans walking down Caxton street and at the stadium is just awesome.

On the first 2 days I was lucky enough to be sitting in the 3rd and 4th row back from the field right beside the home team tunnel, so was able to see plenty of the characters and players, Vlando was even within spitting distance at one point but I remained calm.

On Sunday, I was sitting higher up and we were surrounded by and seriously outnumbered by Wahs fans, I reckon Broncos fans were outnumbered at least 3 to 1, fortunately they were all pretty friendly characters and the spirit was good. The Wahs cheers and boos just drowned us out tho, it was humbling.

I can really see our boys are down on confidence, but across the board we were really poor, I thought our forwards sort of held their own but we killed ourselves with poor ball control and not taking our chances and things sort of steam rolled over us.

Patty is really becoming a bit of problem, his metres are good but the attention he is receiving from the refs is hurting us.

Our defence in behind the ruck was really poor as was our kicking. We really needed Hunt, Reyno and Reece to stand up and lead the way with so many injuries and new guys in the team but they just haven't.

Klein was diabolical, at times we were actually getting back behind him in the defensive line trying not to concede a set restart. The Reece HIA without a penalty was laughable and killed the game, I think what makes it worse is that Egan who received a much bigger knock earlier in the game was all good to play on.

The football, if I'm honest across the weekend was a little meh, couple of good moments but in general all the games just seemed the same, the refs in everything, they ignore things one moment then throw out a set restart for some other thing at random. The rapid fire set restarts on the Saturday games became really tiresome.

I don't really know exactly what it is but the game really seems to have lost something, the officials just don't seem to want to let the teams play football and sort out the winner, they just don't seem to have respect for the players and the effort that goes into preparing and playing the game every week.

Its like the game is now between each team and the referee rather than a contest between two teams, the team who wins the battle with the referee goes a long way to winning the game.

Would I go again, hmmmm not sure, I guess I'm partially clouded by how our boys played yesterday but the game is just in a really weird state at the moment, the fans are doing their part to carry it but the officials and administration have lost their way.

The reffing was terrible. It always is. Some of the penalties for us were insane, like Riki “taking the winger into touch”. They missed a few we should’ve got too.

Walsh dropped the ball his second run
Reynolds kicked for an easy in goal catch
Reynolds grubbered it dead for a 7 tackle set
High shots
Hip drops
Reyno with the most obvious escort on a player who wasn’t even in contention for the ball
Patty is slow as **** in the ruck, and gives away at least a couple 6 agains every game
Walsh threw an intercept
Hunt threw an intercept
Mam had 1 run in like 60 minutes
Poates bombed a try because he was spraying sticky on his hands and didn’t realise play had restarted
Talty putting his hands in the air to allow a try to avoid a 6 again
Riki had a couple blunders again

+ 30 points warriors came just from Patty being lazy in the ruck, Patty, falling off a tackle on the line, 2 intercepted passes, and Talty’s brain fart

Then if we had Coates dropped pass from Walsh, we handed warriors 36 points through our own lack of IQ

Plenty to be mad at the ref for but we are back to playing some really dumb football

OMG ! Stop talking like a sane person .

19 and on debut. What do you expect ?

To be fcking ready to do his job when the time comes .
Talking to the trainer and getting some sticky spray when your team needs you is not acceptable .
1 time and a lesson learned. Don`t ever , ever do that again .

I mean, in Maguire terms, this was pretty gloves off:
- I need to have a look at it, there were some penalties there worth having a look at
- There were things there in our control and there were definitely ones that weren't - 10-1 penalties at one stage
- We'll definitely wear some of those penalties but some of those were just (ridiculous)
- There was definitely a lack of consistency there, it just makes it hard to play when the game is like that
- We had some field position and we just need to look at ways we can swing it back our way
- We're getting some good tackling practice on our line at the moment but it goes both ways, we need to improve
- It was only two or three weeks ago things were in a better place and we haven't shifted too much in what we're doing but the adjudications seem to have
- I'm not quite sure what happened there with the Carrigan sin bin, it was a weird one

Reynolds
- Klein told me warn the team and I did and I thought it wasn't anything about slowing down the ruck but apparently it was
- We had a number of different penalties and I tried to get some clarity but that's as far as it went, didn't get any
- We didn't give ourselves a chance, our discipline was poor
- Its tough to be in games when it is 30% possession
- We clean that up and get some even calls, things will turn

Maguire
- The bye has come at a really good time for us, we need to be better than that
- We'll get a fair few rolling back the next few weeks
- Our discipline was off tonight for sure but its hard to put pressure back when you don't have the ball
- I'm looking forward to getting the boys back refreshed after the break
- I hope we have a few players in the origin team, its nice when they get a rep jersey
- This group knows what they need to do and we'll just need to do it over and over now
- I'm very happy for Kotoni to get back at that level if he gets it
- Kotoni will be ready to go
- Not my decision if Walsh is in the team or not
- We haven't been giving ourselves opportunities to perform that's on everyone, myself included
- We just need to get Walsh playing the way he can
- Paas, Biakura and Ganderson back next game
- If it were up to me, I'd be picking Reece but it isn't up to me
- Whatever happens, he needs to keep working hard at his game
- How do you not get a penalty when you get hit in the head and have to go off for a HIA?
- We appreciate having the old boys around

I would love to know if the clubs can re watch the match and clip up the penalties they think we're dodgy, and I talk both ways like the one where Mam made the break and they completely slowed it down. Wonder if they can get that all together and ask the NRL to provide clarification.

There is no way that we can allow Broncos v Warriors again next year at magic round.
Home ground, they had more support (which we all said would happen) the booing and they torched us.
Makes us look like an absolute shambles.
We should be pushing for a Saturday fixture. It would be an epic day out for Broncos fans.

Meh, I still think, without our horror injury toll, we can beat them.

Guys at work, who are all one eyed fans of other clubs and have no love lost for the broncs, all questioned me if I knew why Carrigan was sent off. They could not understand what he did wrong. Nice to see the bias is not totally being unnoticed by other club's fans.

Oh yeah, forgot about that one.

Mam makes a line break, the defence holds on to his leg and eventually does a leg-pull to hold him up, 6-again gets blowed. That is the definition of a professional foul and for 100 years that's 10 in the bin. Unless it happens to the Broncos.

But it wasn't a home game though, in the sense our members get their seats and other Broncos fans can buy tickets. This is obviously different and available to every club supporter.

They don't care about broncos fans... they already turn up... their shittest day is Sunday so we have to play Sunday now to prop up the shit...
Doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Clearly the Warriors had the most fans Sunday so you would keep them on the Sunday and move the Broncos to another time slot, whether it be the last game of the weekend or the Thursday.

Yep... wahs will pack out a day on their own they could probably be the headline on the Saturday.

As for broncos the broadcasters still get a say on which games they want and channel 9 will be wanting broncos to fill one of those spots.

I think they get a Saturday game during magic round because they lose the Thursday game.

Do they? I swear at one point on SAT fox said they were the only place to watch all the games.

9 does have the Women's SOO on Thursday to replace the usual game, whether that brings in more or less viewers I wouldn't have a clue.
